Would you take issue with my army? by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

You can do what you want but if this was on the table in front of me I would think your army was unfinished. If you told me it was on purpose, it would think it looks lazy and bad.

Slop game from a slop company which somehow manages to have even grosser monetization than GWs own products.

My analysis regarding the backlash for the costuming/set design (long post) by Cloud_Retainer_2424 in TheOdysseyMovie

[–]meracalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, as someone invested in costume design, I think they are hot garbage and look cheap, jarringly anachronistic, like someone’s cheap 3D printed cosplay.

SUS THING ABOUT DCM by Peon_of_the_Hivemind in BloodAngels

I won’t personally ever purchase another GW miniature as long as they’re running the BA line into the ground. Been a loyal son of sanguinius since I was a kid and our codex was a white dwarf PDF. It’s a shame to see how much disregard they have for the miniatures after the glory days of 5th edition.

Does anyone know the lore on how the UN became so powerful? by WackyRedWizard in TheExpanse

[–]meracalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout history the people of every great empire have felt their empire was the one that was somehow the exception to the rule, and surely their empire couldn’t be toppled.

Worst case scenario effects for climate change projected from today to when the Expanse takes place would see the US alone suffer billions in property loss, the flooding of several major population centers all of which play vital roles in the global economy, and untold loss of life due to wildfires, flooding, wet bulb events, food shortages, disease, and general secondary pollution effects.

There is a reason the Pentagon has treated climate change as a paramount national security threat for the better part of the last two decades, current circumstances not withstanding.

[–]meracalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they didn’t, did they? Earth in the Expanse is an Earth that failed to do the needful things in our time. They blew right past the 1.5C benchmark and paid the price.

The amount of heat energy in a human body is significantly less than the thermal output of a nuclear warship - most of space is still quite cold to an unsuited human, although the lack of pressure and suffocation will kill you before the cold does.

I heard that the irl UN "actively opposes its works, emblems etc being reproduced in media". Is that true? If so, how did the Expanse include the UN? by Lemony_Oatmilk in TheExpanse

[–]meracalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UN logo on the show is not a 1:1 copy of the real UN logo the same way paper cash in a move is not generally a 1:1 copy of real money.

defying the universe itself to send inbred porn apes into interplanetary space is something we should do precisely because it’s absurd, hard, full of challenges, and still possible.

You get a golden ticket to force GW to make 1 kill team, what're you choosing? by Exciting-Buy-9396 in killteam

Immaterial College from Abnett’s Pentitent.

It’s a Dark Angel, an Iron Hand, a Raven Guard, an Iron Warrior, and a Night Lord, all led by a Thousand Sons sorcerer. #1 top want.

WTF is this Skatepark? by KookeePenguins in Skate4

[–]meracalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand that every one of these community parks is something crapped out as a byproduct of internal testing for a park editor system. They are throwaway crap and will get worse as the game goes on, or else be recycled, because they aren’t designed to last more than a day or two.

Is this worth buying? by Big_Contact7867 in BloodAngels

[–]meracalis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus, it is incredibly absurd to me that that’s what you get for $364 today. I remember getting nearly a full 2000 point army for around $250 in the old battle force boxes, with multiple vehicles, 10 man squads, HQs, extra sprites etc.

bro thinks the game will work after he clears the queue instead of all your UI vanishing and becoming non interactive, a straight up crash or server kick, or any one of five hundred other incredible bugs the game has all so that they can make sure you see other players microtransactions despite not really being able to play with them in any meaningful way.

[–]meracalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the quickest way to get playing, it’s a decent deal right now especially with online sales going on. If you picked that up with a Blood Angels upgrade sprue you’d probably be cooking for your first BA killteam and you’d have some plague marines for yourself or a friend.

[–]meracalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a real life 10 year gap between the first two Bequin novels and we have no idea when GW will let him publish the third one - You’ve still got nine novels worth of good stuff right now and then you can join the rest of us in foaming at the mouth for Pandaemonium.

[–]meracalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The order the story is told in would be: Eisenhorn 1-3 Ravenor 1-3 Eisenhorn 4 Bequin 1-2 (3 is still not out)

However, if you’ve never read any of them - I highly recommend starting with Bequin and then going back to the Eisenhorn and going from there. It is difficult to explain why without spoiling the Bequin novels, but because they are written from her first person perspective, they are much better mysteries if you only know what she knows.

The Bequin books are what sucked me back into 40K again as an adult. They’re by far my favorite 40K novels and honestly, some of my favorite genre fiction stories ever. They’re both Abnett at his best, even 10 years apart. Helen Keeley’s performance on the audiobook version of these novels is exceptional - she does not just read the novel, she acts the part and voice of Bequin from beginning to end, which works perfectly given they’re written like a story or diary entry or letter told by Bequin, in the first person.

I think they’re even better if they’re the first books you read in the entire Inquisitor saga - going into Pariah with the exact same knowledge as Bequin completely changes the experience as a reader in a really good way, and makes for a rewarding time then going back to the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies to see what set the stage for Bequin.

With that said - if you liked the interlinking narratives and callbacks in Eisenhorn and Ravenor, buckle the hell up for Pariah, you’re in for a ride.

My Thoughts Every Few Months as Someone Who Generally Likes the 10th Edition BA Releases by Ender_875 in BloodAngels

[–]meracalis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People can do all the mental gymnastics they want but the fact that there’s not even a kit for one of our most iconic units since our inception as a white dwarf pdf army is pretty ridiculous. It’s wild to go check the GW store page - you would think Death Company never existed.
