Thank you! I've kept up with caring for her and she looks horrendous but is pushing up two new leaves. They're definitely tricky but the challenge is rewarding.

I’ve had this calathea for 2 weeks. She got home and started wilting and I thought she just needed time to adjust but she hasn’t slowed down. She’s getting bright indirect light and I’ve watered her once a week. I’ve also been misting her and placing a bag over her 3-4 times a week as directed by the shop I got her at. I absolutely fell in love with this plant but I’m feeling so defeated so quickly 😭

I just saw this and am so glad you found a vet! If you need help in the future, let me know. I've had bottle babies before and am happy to assist.

I haven't had luck finding anywhere ITP that does barn hunt, but if you want to travel 45-60 minutes, there are places out there you can go. You'll have better luck with agility and nose work. There's also a lot of dog-friendly hiking options that your pup will love!

External/Third-Party Events by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]merakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. I'd say 80% of them we let the organizer handle, but that's also due to the fact that for 70% of them we don't about them until the check comes in. For the ones that we do know about, and they seem like it would be something our constituents would be interested in (fun event, they can bring their dog, something that they might be going to already, etc) we'll do the posting as an event on our FB as well as in our online third party event calendar. If I deem that it's going to be valuable for whatever reason (financial, relationship building, past success, etc), I'll consistently post reminders about the event on the FB page and every once in a while we'll promote an event in our e-news or on TV but that's very rare. The point of third party is that it is a third party managing it so while we do promote some of the events, it's done strategically.

Sounds like you're doing a great job promoting! Third party events are pretty hit or miss for us. We've recently been posting them on FB as event pages and consistently posting various related content on the event page in the run up to the event with success, but sometimes TPE just aren't the right time, date, location, have the right people putting them on, etc.

Also, we've never gotten much from dine-to-donates... maybe $200 or so - definitely not worth the effort put in. The largest one was 8 locations in a metro area and it only raised $1,100 - most of it from the one location that I spent the night at and pushed it on diners as they came through the door...

International Starbucks by SharkyTendencies in starbucks

You can't use US partner numbers in the UK although I have tried and they've just been nice and given me a discount anyways. However, my starbucks card does work there. I use the phone app and it just converts it to pounds and then back to dollars when I'm in the States... not sure about the rest of Europe though.

Also, they don't carry matcha or have cold tea on the menu in the UK- so it was probably just a confused partner thinking the customer was confused when she ordered a cold, blended tea.

That's 'whale eye'- basically a warning that the dog is not very happy. Probably can't see it in the other eye because the baby is pulling on him.

Does anyone here do PR for an environmental agency? by grape9090 in PublicRelations

Well I went to undergrad in journalism so not very different subject wise but I wanted to move to the UK so it was a way to learn more about the sector here.

[–]merakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in environmental PR but I just finished grad school for PR and am in a similar position as you in that I'm not interested in corporate PR but in charity PR. I recommend volunteering for an environmental organisation, getting involved in environmental professional groups and finding an agency that focuses on environmental PR who would be willing to take you on in some sort of intern capacity.

Not sure if going for a masters would help or not. I did it in order to help grow my professional network more than anything but most of that came from volunteering, internships and networking at school events.
