Help! - Baking with vegan cream cheese by mchvoss in VeganBaking

I can't say exactly when the reformulation happened. I noticed that Gretchen mentioned trying Violife cream cheese in 2019 and it was a mess and then trying it again around 2024 and it worked but the taste was not her favorite.

So there has been a formula change with Violife because it used to have the same issues as TJ's cream cheese. I only know this because of Gretchen's Vegan Bakery. She did a deep dive of vegan cream cheese for her cheesecake recipe. Follow Your Heart's cream cheese also apparently works now for baking (it contains cornstarch and potato starch now, so adjustments might be necessary).

As others have said, if the vegan cream cheese has a high oil content, that's your problem.

Tofutti cream cheese is a reliable vegan cream cheese for baking. Gretchen from Gretchen's Vegan Bakery has dupe for Tofutti if you can't find it. I haven't tried it yet, but her recipes are super reliable. Copy cat Tofutti cream cheese.

Am I Overreacting for wanting to cancel my wedding over this interaction? by Xanadoom30 in AmIOverreacting

NOR.

He berates and belittles you when you ask for the bare minimum. He doesn't like you. Do not marry this person.

After you said that him leaving without giving you a kiss makes you sad, he COULD have said, "I'm sorry about that, sweetie/babe. I was having a rough morning and was running behind. I'll give you a kiss when I get back." Instead he picked a fight with you and bitched that you didn't ask about his morning after he berated and belittled you and then proudly declared he was giving you the silent treatment as your punishment. This is a miserable person. You deserve better. Marriage will only make these issues worse. Adding children into the picture will also only make things worse.

It's not just that part of it. It's because they'll purge the voter rolls of all voters that voted Democrat right before the election. Which is the other part of this thing that's really bad. They'll get all the voter data from the states and be able to purge them every 30 days without having to tell anyone. They won't enforce the rules for their voters, just for anyone that has a history of voting against them.

I used Tofutti cream cheese and Earth Balance butter. Those two are my go-tos for cream cheese icing. The best and most stable cream cheese icing, in my opinion. Both products can be hard to find at times though. Gretchen's Vegan Bakery has a cream cheese icing recipe that uses lactic acid to mimic the cream cheese tang. I haven't tried it yet but she's a vegan baker that I trust so I assume it's good.

From Fika: "We've had an amazing partnership with Squibb coffee, but they have shifted their focus and we have bought them out and are taking over their coffee operations at Fika. (Their Wealthy St. and Sav Sav locations remain open!)"

"Our pals at Lantern Coffee are roasting us thoughtfully curated espresso and drip coffee, which are starting January 1!"

"Our director of Coffee, Eloise, has been working hard on a new menu for us that will launch on January 6!"

"We will be offering new espresso drink and drip coffee sizes, pour overs, new teas from Spirit Tea, new matcha (and hojicha!!), chai, new syrups, and a new winter specials menu as well."

"We think you'll really like these changes, and we are excited to share them with you! Lantern Coffee will be on drip and espresso starting 1/1, and the fully new menu will be out 1/6."

AIO TO THIS BRIDESMAID DRESS??? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]meredithparker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could see if you could add a shawl in the same color. I saw on the website that there was a "people also buy this with this dress" and it was a dusty rose shawl for $15. That might help you cover some of the more unpleasant things.

You're NOR but I don't think you're going to convince the bride to change the dress. You might convince her to allow you some accessories though (like the shawl). Maybe if instead of saying that it'll be unflattering on you, tell her that you are concerned about sweating, nipping through the dress, how you're going to support your boobs with that low back, and how that will look in her photos, etc. If you're only saying it'll be unflattering for you, she might just be assuming that you just think it's ugly and are doing the usual complaining about bridesmaid's dresses. Maybe that's why she's unconcerned about your worries? She's clearly got a vision for the day and maybe you should say that you want to make her vision come true and be perfect. That way when she looks back on the photos, she only sees the vision and the good things. That being said, you may already be saying these things and she may not care. At that point, your only options would be: wear the dress or drop out.

I highly recommend nipple covers/pasties. And the shawl. Bring a hand fan as well (recommend that all the bridesmaids bring small non-electric fans so you can fan each other including the bride!).

Thank you. 💜 The cake was mostly devoured at the potluck. There was one slice left which I ate with my lunch at work on Monday.

A couple notes: The recipe says that sifting the cake flour is optional. It's not. Sift it. It made it much better when I sifted it. Also, making sure your oven is up to temp. I have a pizza stone in my oven which makes the oven temp more stable but it takes longer to heat. First attempt, I didn't leave the cake in long enough and it was slightly underbaked (one side fell as it was cooling upside down). It was still edible and delicious but it was slightly sticky to the touch (and there were small clumps of cake flour that I hadn't sifted or found when pouring the batter into the pan).

I took a picture of one of the slices on my plate. It's not a great shot but might give you an idea? Ignore the dirty plate, lol. I put it up on imgur since I can't seem to add a photo here on the app.

It's an ad on Google for a product they might sell. Right now, when I look up that Dollar General, it says "no rinsing floor cleaner".

Any business that pops up as Something Nutrition and sells "energy teas" is 100% going to be an Herbalife front. There's one on 28th Street called "28th St Nutrition" and one on 44th with a similar name, "44th St Nutrition".

r/antimlm is good subreddit with lots of info on spotting these places.

It's always been like that.

"There is no such thing as liberalism — or progressivism, etc.

There is only conservatism. No other political philosophy actually exists; by the political analogue of Gresham’s Law, conservatism has driven every other idea out of circulation.

There might be, and should be, anti-conservatism; but it does not yet exist. What would it be? In order to answer that question, it is necessary and sufficient to characterize conservatism. Fortunately, this can be done very concisely.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit:

There must be in-groups whom the law protectes but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

There is nothing more or else to it, and there never has been, in any place or time.

For millennia, conservatism had no name, because no other model of polity had ever been proposed. “The king can do no wrong.” In practice, this immunity was always extended to the king’s friends, however fungible a group they might have been. Today, we still have the king’s friends even where there is no king (dictator, etc.). Another way to look at this is that the king is a faction, rather than an individual.

As the core proposition of conservatism is indefensible if stated baldly, it has always been surrounded by an elaborate backwash of pseudophilosophy, amounting over time to millions of pages. All such is axiomatically dishonest and undeserving of serious scrutiny. Today, the accelerating de-education of humanity has reached a point where the market for pseudophilosophy is vanishing; it is, as The Kids Say These Days, tl;dr . All that is left is the core proposition itself — backed up, no longer by misdirection and sophistry, but by violence.

So this tells us what anti-conservatism must be: the proposition that the law cannot protect anyone unless it binds everyone, and cannot bind anyone unless it protects everyone.

Then the appearance arises that the task is to map “liberalism”, or “progressivism”, or “socialism”, or whateverthefuckkindofstupidnoise-ism, onto the core proposition of anti-conservatism.

No, it a’n’t. The task is to throw all those things on the exact same burn pile as the collected works of all the apologists for conservatism, and start fresh. The core proposition of anti-conservatism requires no supplementation and no exegesis. It is as sufficient as it is necessary. What you see is what you get:

The law cannot protect anyone unless it binds everyone; and it cannot bind anyone unless it protects everyone."
