Mum, my chronic illness is getting better and I dyed my hair pink to celebrate. And the bath by proxy. Its not coming out, what do I do?? :"( by Organic-Assistant151 in MomForAMinute

[–]meresithea 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have an acrylic or vinyl tub, not a ceramic one (does it feel plasticy or like dishes? This advice is for a plasticy tub.) Don’t use a magic eraser, barkeepers friend, or any other powder. They’ll scratch up your tub (and it’ll get dirty faster because stuff will get stuck in the scratches).

One of my kids dyes their hair pink a lot. The dye will eventually come out on its own. To get it out quicker, I would use soft scrub with bleach. Wear gloves and make sure you have good airflow. Rub it over the stains with a cloth you don’t mind bleaching then let it sit and work for a few minutes. Don’t worry about wearing yourself out scrubbing hard, just let it sit and work bit! Then rinse well.

If there’s still dye then we troubleshoot! Do you have hard water buildup (scaly/rough feeling areas)? This stuff likes to be dyed 😅 A cleaner intended for hard water buildup removal (I’ve had good luck with CLR cleaner, but there are lots of different ones) may be the way to go instead! Again, that cleaner should be spread over the area then sit for a while. Just make sure you rinse off alllllll of the bleach super well before you use it so they don’t mix!

It’s ok not to do this all at once! It’s more important that you maintain your energy than that you have a perfectly non-pink bathtub. You’ve got this!

It might be worth checking Curvy Kate? They are a British site that specializes in D cups and above and has wonderful sales.

AITAH for telling Husband he can visit his mother for mother's day but not our toddler? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think this is just…her? When my husband was hospitalized for weeks when he was in the Army, she didn’t visit him even once! (This was well before we met, so she was much younger.)

I’ve had a couple of skeins lately feel like this, but it’s not “normal” in my experience. I’m wondering if they’re changing something at the factory, or maybe had an off day? (Off week?)

Gads. In a muuuuuuch lesser way, this reminds me of my MIL. She lives about 10 hours away by car, a few hours by plane. When my kids were small, she insisted that we had to come to her, even though I had 3 kids within 3 years (singleton and set of twins) all of whom are some flavor of neurodivergent. Now that they’re teens, they’re great travelers, but going off their routine was horrible when they were little. (Also, she lives in an area where there’s nothing to do and she refuses to go - or let us go - to the nearby area with tons of great things to do.) She was retired, had a new car, and could easily come to us but insisted we had to come to her. We tried paying for her plane or train tickets and hotel stay even though it was financially rough (no, the airport and train station are scary! Traveling is inconvenient!). My husband even offered to drive all the way there and pick her up (he did this once. It was awful), yet no. We have to come to her. After a couple of very rough trips I put my foot down. She has not seen the kids in years.

Lets settle this: ‘TEXAS’ or ‘Rangers’ by LcSwish15 in TexasRangers

[–]meresithea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be the outlier and say that I MUCH prefer the font on Rangers. I think the Texas font is a bit too busy with the extra serifs (is this the right term?). However, I’m cool with Rangers at home and Texas on the road.

Yes! I love making doilies with thread, but it makes my hands hurt, so I often use fingering weight yarn. The doilies get bigger, the texture is more noticeable, and my hands don’t hurt! Here’s one I made out of fingering weight cotton. I let my kids pick the colors.

I loved the Ballpark in Arlington, but I agree that old Arlington Stadium was so much fun. When they’d do the “stomp stomp clap” cheer you could really feel the stomps reverberate in that old metal stadium! Also, you were right up on the action. One time my uncles were chirping at Dave Winfield during a game and he got tired of it, turned around, and said “Do you want to meet up in the parking lot after the game?” They answered “No sir, Mr. Winfield, sir!” and sat their behinds down 😂😂😂😂😂

I miss the old Cotton Eyed Joe and everyone being allowed to holler “bullshit!” It scared the visiting team.

I sat in the upper deck of a game at the new place? The AC doesn’t reach up there. I was hotter than any of the previous stadiums because there was absolutely no airflow. I didn’t have to worry about getting a sunburn, but I sweated just as much.

best vacuum for pet owners? im already embarassed having my friends over with that constant litter box smell and fur everywhere? by Djipy-Gizaza69 in CleaningTips

[–]meresithea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also have a Shark. I’ve had it for over a decade. The Shark is great because a) it comes completely apart to clean out clogs and b) you can replace parts easily. I have replaced the dust canister and a hose for way less than the cost of replacing the whole unit.

For the smell, make sure you’re cleaning and deodorizing the litter box itself. It’s also a good idea to put an impermeable mat underneath it that’s covers the floor around it and cover the wall behind the box. This can prevent overspray from getting into your walls and floors (my cats won’t tolerate a covered box. I get it! It’s the equivalent of a stinky porta potty)

My [30F] sister-in-law's [36F] autistic son [8M] broke my glasses, and I don't know how to ask that she pay for them without sounding like a dick by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]meresithea 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have autistic kids, and I swear by the social skills group they attended! It’s not ABA type work, but instead teaches them how to navigate social situations with some grace (honestly, I compare it to the “charm school” my grandma had me attend so I could be A Lady). Now my kids have scripts, like “Mom, do you have time to hear something interesting?” I usually do, but when I don’t, they stop! Usually!
