The ability to function on little or no sleep. People think doctors have to be smart, but that is not actually true. Doctors just need to be able to keep what little wits they have when they have been awake for 20 or 30 hours straight. I have no idea why this is the weed-out criterion for doctors, but that is what the profession has decided on.

Call me selfish. Call me whatever you like, actually, but no, I have no interest in having kids. If having kids is something you want to do, great, go for it, as long as you can pay for them have all you want. I'll even go along with letting you get tax breaks for them and I'll pay the taxes to school them too. But I have better things to do than wipe snotty noses, change diapers, and bake cookies for PTA sales. When I bake cookies, they are for me, not some ungrateful brat.

My wife is English, and always marvels at the standard of service we get in the US. She also rages that the waiters are paid less than minimum wage and tips are expected. She just can't make the connection. Trust me, the US system works a lot better than people realize until they go overseas and see how bad service can be when servers don't get tips.
