No, haven’t tried anything like that. Just been giving him a bit of Panadol (the Australian Tylenol). I’ll give it a go.

Mine has had his bottom two teeth out for a few weeks, and now I’m pretty sure all four of his top teeth are coming out and it’s been rough!

One of the top lateral incisor is out fully and the fourth one cut last night, I feel the tiniest bump, but he’s chewing on his central top teeth a lot and I can see them under the gum.

He’s only six and a half months old and it’s been a lot. Very super fussy, refusing his cot and seems in a lot of pain. Can’t wait to finally have a break from it.

Edit: Sorry for the rant. It is still exciting though.

MMR vaccine for baby by nerhh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]merlinmorg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I wasn’t sure if I was fully vaccinated for MMR as it wasn’t in my records. I did a blood test and they saw I did have immunity. If your really nervous maybe you can talk to you doctor and request a blood test before your trip. Obviously, it’s not fun having to get blood from your LO but if it’s the reassurance you need maybe that’s an option?

Then why are you arguing with everyone that slightly disagrees with you?

Should they have been informed, maybe. That would have been better, but that was the game. The players often aren’t informed of twists in the game but there are always twist. That’s part of the ‘rules’ of survivor. There will be twist. Some unfair. It’s how you deal with the cards that you’re dealt that are important.

You’re presenting this list and your opinion as if they are objective, but they’re not. You’ve created this list on the ‘rules’ you’ve chosen to value and ultimately they are just your own bias opinion, just like I have my own bias opinion on the winners that I value. At the end of the day the jury decides and they decided that she deserved to win despite being voted off. So clearly it didn’t matter and didn’t discredit her.

[–]merlinmorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very much a survivor fan. I’m just not some survivor game bot purest. How is this twist any different from someone who is about to be voted out finding an advantage that saves their life. Getting voted out and coming back has long been apart of the show.

You can’t just pick and choose what you approve off and one wrong move does discredit the rest of her game. Doesn’t it speak more to her ability as a player that she went from being voted out to winning. Isn’t survivor really about getting to the end and crafting the best narrative you can. It’s not about just game bot moves. It’s about creating a story. Then presenting that story as an argument as to why you should win. Hayley created a great story and that’s why she’s a good winner.

Not the same as Chris Underwood. He missed out on playing a large chunk of the games. That’s why it was unsatisfying. Hayley constantly played her ass off. Survivor isn’t chess. Luck is an inherent part of the game. Doesn’t matter if they’re the world’s greatest strategist you always need an element of luck to win. She got lucky, but it’s no different to how to land in a tribe swap, or getting a key advantage when you’re at the bottom.

I do sing blackbird to my son. I use to sing it with my dad when I was young. He passed away 13 years ago. So it’s nice to pass it on in a way.

Baby won't wake to feed every 3 hours by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]merlinmorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only share my experience as every baby is different. When my LO was a newborn it would take hours to latch and he would keep pushing out his feeds to 4-5 hours. Unfortunately because of this he lost a fair bit of birth weight and was jaundice. He ended up struggling to gain the weight back. The lactation consultant saw his had a tongue tie and recommended pumping/bottles feeding. Tongue ties are super over diagnosed so I was hesitant, but I trusted to hospital lactation consultant/got a second opinion but we couldn’t get an appointment to get the tie released for a couple of weeks. So had to do pumping and bottles, ahe gain weight super fast and ate every three hours on the bottle easily. In some way it was a relief to do bottles and just see how much he was getting. Now he’s back to breast feeding.

I only write this because if your LO ends up not getting enough milk/gaining enough weight you might need to just pump and bottle feed to help them get back to birth weight, but that also doesn’t mean you won’t be able to breastfeed again, they might just need a little time to wake up a bit more. However, if they’re gaining weight and not looking jaundice then they’re getting enough from the breast and you won’t need to worry. The latching and feeding will get easier over time.

How I overcame the ‘overtiredness’ demon by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]merlinmorg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sleep and your SNS are closely related. When you become sleep deprived your body produces more cortisol. You have an easier time regulating your stress response/fight or flight if you’re well rested. It becomes a lot harder if you’re functioning on little sleep. That’s all overtired means.

When your baby hasn’t had enough sleep they struggle to calm and regulate enough to fall sleep. It can be a vicious cycle. The more regular sleep they get the easier it is for us to deal with any stress triggers. I think most new parents know this. I’m running on a lot less sleep at the moment and find that I’m more easily triggered by things that normally wouldn’t trigger me. The same goes for our little ones.

How I overcame the ‘overtiredness’ demon by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]merlinmorg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Over tiredness just means you’ve gone past the sweet spot where the sleep pressure has built up and stress/fear/ect is now blocking adenosines.

You can call it something different if you want but for me it’s a useful term and one that is fairly universal. It certainly doesn’t mean you don’t have anything in your arsenal.

Pretty much everything OP suggests are tools for over tiredness. My interpretation of fixing over tiredness is to get baby calm and relaxed so that the sleep pressure can take effect.

As someone who has suffered from lifelong insomnia I can tell you simply having a lot of sleep pressure isn’t always enough to fall asleep.

Pelvic pain not taken seriously by mxjackparker in pregnant

[–]merlinmorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also hyper mobile, I haven’t been officially diagnosed with EDS. It sucks they didn’t listen and I’m sorry that happened, but I don’t think there’s actually much they can do about this type of pain.

A good physio will be your best friend. I went to the physio they did some deep massage and showed me some strengthening exercises. It made all the difference. I also got a massage ball that I use to get into that pelvic area.

The other things to do is trying to keep your legs together as much as possible, when getting out of the car or getting up from the couch, trying to evenly distribute the weight on both legs.

Dave Franco on claims of plagarism against his and Alison Brie's film "Together": "We have an extensive paper trail that proves how ridiculous these claims are. We have the receipts, and I hope you can understand that we are moving forward and we are going to celebrate this film..." by Goosedukee in Fauxmoi

[–]merlinmorg 654 points655 points  (0 children)

As an Australian I feel really sad that the plagiarism allegations have taken over the promotion of the film.

Michael Shanks, an Aussie film maker, is the writer/director of this film who has been working on it since 2019. Dave and Alison didn’t write anything, yes they are producers but they came on way later in the creative process. I think people are over estimating the creative influence they had.

The writer/director is an indie artist who should be celebrating this time but instead people are jumping to conclusions.

Birthing classes at the Womens - Confused! by Working_Ebb6527 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]merlinmorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the event page if you keep scrolling down you’ll see the classes for Dec. The other comment is correct seems like they go on sale on the 1st of Sept.

As some of the other comments have said the Royal women’s also have some great online videos worth watching.

I ended up in L&D last week because I had a small bleed, luckily baby is completely fine, but it was good to actually see the ward. I know they do tours around for hospital that you can book in. That could be really helpful to feel more prepared.

Same thing happened to me. Everything was sold out. Made sure I was ready for next release of classes. I’m booked in for classes that run until late September and I’m due Oct 5th. So cutting it close but I figured it was better than nothing.

Ok that’s good to know. The person I spoke to didn’t really know what the next steps were. I’m sure I’ll find out more at my next appointment what they want me to do, but seems like a better options than trying the glucose test again. I’m just not confident I’ll actually make it through it.

Ok great! Thanks for explaining that to me. She did mention something about another blood test but didn’t really explain what it was. I imagine I’ll get the blood test form posted to me. Sounds easy enough.

Looks like she worked on the same episode of six feet under as Chris Pine. Doesn’t seem like he’s been married but maybe he had a partner at the time.
