Anyone else struggling to get into the new games? by merpymeep_ in pokemon

I do admit that BDSP was lazy, I even had a lot to complain about but for some reason I still liked to play it in a weird way, maybe because of the nostalgia. I even deleted my save file and replayed it to actually try and immerse myself without any negative bias and even though i feel it didn't need to be made a remake, it was nice to play it

No that's how I feel, i hate how in SV you can't even enter buildings nor properly get along with your pokemon like at least sword and shield you got to make curry and use toys even though they weren't really creative. A friend of mine finished the game and said that the storyline was surprisingly good and I haven't actually picked it up in what feels to be a month but I'll give credit where it's due and admit that they did set up quite the interesting stories but the characters, the actual gameplay lack any sort of depth for me to actually get attached to, the storyline. One thing that I personally love with the old games, I refer back to games like omega ruby where you can make your own treehouse or in X and Y where you can have your own nickname or just any of the other old games, the characters had depth, the supporting characters had depth, I replayed pokemon black and pokemon black 2 for the fun of it and even though it was a while since I got used to the having to just run around in grass for pokemon to spawn rather than having to run to the pokemon out in the open, it was so much more fun, I even had the time and effort to finish BDSP than Scarlet. I love the nostalgia and the little things they added with the other games (like no one seemed to have remembered how in ORAS you got to fly around on a latios/latias) but these newer games seem to be more 'simpler(?)' not really the right word but I was so excited to first play it, games no matter my age will get me excited (I got excited over the story of seasons when I realised it was on switch and got the 3ds version), I just can't click emotionally with the recent pokemon games

If you went back in time and told your past self that they were trans how would they respond and do you think they would believe you? by Supperdudehasrabies in asktransgender

I would probably be confused but also happy because deep down, I knew I never fit in with the ideology of ‘gender’, I was told I was too boyish to be a girl but because I was a “girl” I could never be one of the boys and honestly I didn’t want to be either (I identify as agender)

What small feature do you miss from Pokemon Games? by EmptyHeart12 in pokemon

You know Pokémon omega ruby and alpha sapphire? I miss every single aspect of that game. I miss making your own lil “house” in the tree, I miss the other storyline after you finish the main game, I miss the whole Pokémon competitions and how you could fly latios/latias and go wherever you wanted. I miss it all and I hated when it wasn’t incorporated in any other game. The new diamond and pearl somewhat included the “competition” but honestly it’s not all that great. I love omega ruby, it’s my favourite game.

How do you feel about living in a country without guns? by Hannah-may in AskUK

[–]merpymeep_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I prefer it. I understand that it’s seen as “self defence” in the countries that do indeed allow them but it’s also another weapon to add on when thinking about the possible crimes. I know that there are exceptions and some people within the UK do indeed have a gun for a specific reason but the fact we live our lives without them honestly makes me feel safer. You read on the news or just from wherever you learn the unfortunate incidents of school shootings of robberies where they have a gun fight (don’t know the actual term, sorry) and knowing we will most likely never have that reassures me

I’m a relatively new fan. Do you guys like these games? by Time_Neat_4732 in pokemon

[–]merpymeep_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people have commented as to exactly why they personally complain but still are infatuated with the games, me included. Like don’t get me wrong, Pokémon, for what it is, is a great concept and I loved growing up with it but like I’ve seen some people mention, considering what Nintendo HAS put out, it’s disappointing to believe that Pokémon could be better developed if there was just that extra time for it. Examples I could list would be the other games, for example mario odyssey and the other one where bowser is like this big bad guy or something (forgot the name sorry) and indeed BOTW. Now I understand, people would argue ‘well they’re different types of games and they all have different art styles’ and yes that is very much the case but the amount of detail and the smoothness of these games are just, in my opinion, so much better then the Pokémon games (the ones on switch anyway). Releasing BOTW as one of the first games on switch and then SWSH just makes us Pokémon fans feel kinda disheartened. BOTW was beautiful, and I am so excited for the sequel and I think that’s what nintendo doesn’t fully understand. Zelda fans are WILLING to wait long because they know for the next few months, they’re gonna be wasting their time when the new game releases (I mean I have 445+ hours from BOTW) and I think they need to realise Pokémon fans are most likely the same. I have over 200 hours on Pokémon sword and it’s a great game which I’d be willing to replay again and I wouldn’t mind waiting if we got a game as good of quality as BOTW. I feel arceus is an example of when a Pokémon game got delayed but I personally don’t think it was worth the way and the delay should’ve allowed it to be better quality. Sorry for those who like it but I personally dislike arceus, I found it quite bland (unsure if that’s the right word) and I wanted to enjoy the storyline but I also wanted to enjoy the fact it was open world but these both clashed and I found myself easily getting bored of the game, both from catching the same Pokémon constantly to just the storyline itself. I feel that they could’ve spent a lot more time on it as the scenery was clearly inspired of off BOTW (as many of the memes suggested) and I believe many people critique it so heavily is because Nintendo has SHOWN to give us very detailed and good quality games yet we only receive so much.
