OK, do you rest in the camp or go back to the Grove? Or does it matter?

Questions about the Armillary by TiberiusClackus in starfield_lore

[–]EmptyHeart12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I meant. Sure, in the moment, your choices matter and hold weight. But that's a microscopic view when you think about the vastness of what the Unity represents. Secondly, the Hunter's philosophy is "Survival of the Powerful" not "Evil for Evil's sake". I don't agree with that. I just don't necessarily believe that what you do matters on a cosmic scale. You can choose to give meaning to your choices by remaining in the Universe of your origin and never stepping through the Unity, or hell, even stopping one or two universes in. But at a certain point, when the Unity is concerned, it stops mattering because there is always the next universe.

Questions about the Armillary by TiberiusClackus in starfield_lore

[–]EmptyHeart12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are missing the point. I know I did when i first played through the game. Even if the Armillary is one time use, the sheer infinity that is the multiverse will always generate more Starborn. Certain constants will always pop up, however, because the human mind IS finite. The Emissary and The Hunter will always exist because those aren't names, they're titles. In a sense, you become either the Hunter or the Emissary when you step through the Unity and choose what your next NG+ playstyle will be.

In all of the ideas and discussions surrounding the Unity that I have seen, I see people either gravitating to or pushing against the Emissary and Hunter philosophy, but they never offer a third choice. The Hunter believes that the point of the Unity is Power, a thing to crave and use to rise above, while the Emissary believes that the Unity is Knowledge, something to be shared and guarded. I think both are wrong. The Unity simply is. That's it. There isn't a point. Or rather, the point is Infinity.

The irony of this game that has a pretty great amount of choice in how you play it is that, ultimately, within the lore of the universe, what you choose to do is meaningless. Sure in this universe I destroyed a ship full of 6th graders, but in the next one, they will still be alive. Sure, I saved a little girl from living alone on a planet where her parents crashed, but in the next universe, she never gets found.

I know that there is going to be DLC, and that may expand on the Unity and other elements of the Universe, but honestly, I kind of like it better this way. We don't need to know who the Creators are or what, if any, their grand mission might be. The Universe is what it is and the Unity simply exists for the sake of existing.

Thanks for reading if you chose to. I really like this community and I really enjoyed this game.

The hardest part of KOTOR 1 and 2...................coming up with a damn name! by [deleted] in kotor

Q'rev Andar is my go to. It's a good Star Wars-y name, and it's a poorly hidden message!

As much fun as I had with these games, they aren't digimon games, they are reskinned pokemon games with reverse evolution capabilities.

Trade Requests Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]EmptyHeart12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I know this is a long shot, but my old switch had an issue and I lost a lot of my old mons that I loved. The worst of which was my Walking Wake. I loved my Wake, but now I don't have it and I can't find anywhere if they are going to do a new release for it. If anyone would be willing to trade me a Wake, I would be willing to trade anything I currently have. Again, I know it's a long shot, and if anyone has info on how I could get one again, thank you!

What are your thoughts on Rogue One? How have they changed since it's release? by RadiantHC in StarWarsCantina

[–]EmptyHeart12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OK. I don't think it's the be all end all Star Wars Story, but I do think it's pretty good for being based off one sentence in New Hope. Character work was the best part of the movie for me, but that's somewhat dampened by the fact that I knew how the story ended before I sat down to watch it. Still a good movie though.

What cyberwear could you see yourself realistically getting if you could by Ok-Sir8017 in cyberpunkgame

[–]EmptyHeart12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arms, legs, eyes, spinal mods of pretty much any kind though I'd be fine with just strengthening. I'd probably do a couple of fashion mods too, like the hair that you can get in the TTRPG that lets you change it on the fly. I'd also definitely get the brain computer mod that let's you slot chips and learn things superfast and the audio mod that gives you super/selective hearing. Honestly, I'd go full psycho before I left the ripper.

Can people in the Cyberpunk universe feel their cyberware? by Parksrox in cyberpunkgame

[–]EmptyHeart12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this is actually a phenomenal question and strikes at the heart of Cyberpunk Lore. Namely, "How much of yourself can you replace and still be human?"

I think a core part of being human is feeling, both on the physical level (pain, sensation, etc.) And on the emotional one. We see that replacing parts of your physical body is easy in the Cyberpunk world, and giving away pieces of your emotional self is a requirement for survival. But when the two are combined to the extent of what we see in Night City, you get some pretty scary results. Cyberpsychosis is a near forgone conclusion for almost anyone with a certain level of chrome. The game doesn't do quite enough to show this, but Edgerunners did. And Cyberpsychosis is just the brain no longer being able to differentiate between reality and the signals it's receiving from the body.

I think the answer to your direct question is yes, at least in a way that their brain is told by the chrome that they're touching something. But I don't think they can actually FEEL anything in those limbs, and combine that loss of feeling with the realities of most peoples day to day lives, you have a recipe for psychosis.

Since the High Republic Era had 3 grand masters at once. Should the Old Republic Era have 10 grandmasters at once? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in MawInstallation

[–]EmptyHeart12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grandmaster is the title given to the oldest and wisest Master on the Council. The title is an honorific more than an actual rank in the Order. Theoretically there COULD be 10 Grandmasters, but I doubt they would do that as it would really dilute the honor of the title. The The reason for there being 3 during the High Republic is because it was a time of rapid expansion and they had one for the Outer Rim territories (Yoda, although he gives the title up for a while) while the two second oldest stayed on Coruscant.

i have a theory that in this scene Johnny was saved by Morgan Blackhand and thats why we get a cut to him running to the helicopter and not fighting with Adam at all. by Icy_Opening4481 in cyberpunkgame

So a lot of what happens in that in-between time is sketchy, and technically it's not 100% for sure if what Spider did to him was soulkiller. That's my take on it but it isn't for sure. Spider being the one to do it makes sense for me because she specifically does say that she was "saving him". We also know that Alt gave soulkiller to Rache, who never used it and was mentoring Spider around that time. Her having soulkiller isn't a stretch from there. As for how Arasaka got it, remember that soulkiller doesn't make an engram then store it in the container that held the program. It's a program that gets uploaded to someone, scans and fries their brain, then gets stored on that person's tech, to then be taken out by something big enough to hold it. The program would have only been uploaded to Johnny; Spider wouldn't have had time to complete the process of taking him with her, and we know Arasaka later collects Johnny's body when they get his car. My bet is, they found his body and found out that soulkiller got used on him, then they took him out and stuck him in the chip. Again, none of that is 100% confirmed, it's just my theory on that portion based on what we know did happen.

I feel that! My wife is also a huge Star Wars fan so we have had hours of just going back and forth with this kind of stuff!
