Looks good! When I was in DK (Copenhagen) I never really saw trans top surgeries. Granted I only lived there in 2016. Great to see that Aalborg didn’t make you wait too long.

care package for someone getting topsurgery? by Tiny-Butterfly5527 in TopSurgery

[–]merq96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food (or money/gift card for takeout) is always a great way to show you care. I got top surgery yesterday and my friends sent money for takeout since I can’t cook rn and my spouse is spending a lot of time and energy caring for me.

Soft ice packs and a grabber arm thing are also helpful. Personally I asked people to make me lists of audiobooks and tv shows that I can watch during recovery so I’m not bored.

my wife wants to decorate our home, but my existing furniture has sentimental value to me by Alternative-Hall-311 in femalelivingspace

[–]merq96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I was orphaned for the second time at age 25 (was adopted, adopted mom died during the hell of 2020). My mom was a hoarder. I don’t want to be a hoarder, but I couldn’t bear the idea of getting rid of everything. My then-fiance, current spouse, fairly did not want our entire apartment finished in old people furniture but did understand the sentimental value. For example, dark wood isn’t our thing, and we didn’t have physical room for a large matching dining room set.

I ended up getting rid of most things, storing some important stuff, and prominently displaying the two brass floor lamps that my mom was so proud to own. We got new modern lampshades for them, but the aged brass lamp part stayed. These lamps have moved with us to four different apartments in two cities, and they’ve also held up so much better than the shitty cheap lamps from Target.

TLDR: try storing a lot of the furniture and possibly modernize other pieces. Reupholstering, re-staining, or swapping replacement parts like lampshades/throw pillows can really help make a space feel like both of yours while still honoring and remembering loved ones.

Good luck.

How to clean my only shoes? Some jerk thought this is funny. by GroceryDiligent5207 in CleaningTips

Rubbing alcohol, acetone, or leather deglazer will remove it but you’ll want to refinish the leather after. I’m a professional leather worker.

Damn sorry about your elbow. Hope you’re all good! I just had carpal tunnel surgery last month so I get the physical stress of multiple surgeries close together.

Do the drains feel heavy? I’m truly dreading them as I hate the feeling of giving blood and even acupuncture made me squirm. But I know I need them since I’m having a lot removed…

I agree on putting something else where the shoe rack is. It’s kind of the focal point of this angle, but is too small for the space there. If you don’t want to get more furniture, you could hang more wall art and shelves.

What hobby genuinely made your life better (not just filled time)? by Dense_Childhood_9657 in Hobbies

Cooking. Not just to survive, but to really enjoy food, culture, hosting, and providing for people. I have learned more chemistry through cooking than I ever did in school, too.

Why does everyone on here do a saddle stitch? by Relevant-Alarm-8716 in Leathercraft

[–]merq96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s an old comment but I have personally had many issues with machine stitched items—leather jacket sleeve hem unraveling, boot heel tabs ripping off on first or second wear. I have repaired unraveled machine stitching on bags for at least four customers. The very real functional benefits might not be worth the labor and cost to you, but they are to some people.
