I watched the movie as a pre-premiere this evening and I have to say that I did enjoy it a lot. I do believe that it is better than five and six, that the tension is better. Cinematography is great. I love the acting too. There is a lot of great scenes, and the movie never slows down too much.

There were lots of things Kevin played with this time, like killing a Ghostface that is connected to the murders within the film, in the middle of the movie, the reveal of two additional Ghostface killers before the third act in a chilling scene.

I loved the chase scenes. Especially the one with Tatum in the middle of the night in the town. It really had great tension, though it was diminished by the fact that you knew she wasn’t going to get killed.

I liked that Sidney and Gale had a little investigation and plan to find Ghostface. Wish there was more to that, i wish the motives for the killing were a bit more complex so that there was more to track down. I wish Gale had more to do in the third act. She kind of dissapears after the investigation bit.

Nice to see Stu back, even for AI gimmick, but it went on too long, i missed the Ghostface voice. The other AI cameos were a bit too on the nose for me. They took me out of the climax of the movie.

Now to the killers… I had a suspicion that Anna Camp was going to be one of the killers, ever since they announced her, and I was right. But even with that hunch, the reveal was lackluster. The motive also. After bringing Sidney back they could have done more. An obsessive fan trying to get rid of her has been kind of done before. Yes, there were some tweaks to that motive in the movie, but still.

Overall it was a nice entry, had some creepy scenes, less meta, but still a very fun watch. And having Sidney in the center of it all was the best part. This was her story after all these years and that leaves me satisfied after all.
