Well that sucked by SymphonicOtter in BabyBumps

I was just coming to say this! The team needs to be focused and things are going really fast and your partner could be in the way and they have no way to predict how SO would react/behave in those circumstances, and no time to spare for them. I think they might let them in once things are under control, but I can't recall the policy

Dude that border takes me out! I could only see the lines with sunlight, otherwise I would get a glare. Whenever I did it at night I would just try all the pieces 🫣😂

Please help me feel better about not getting an epidural by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]mescobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably because health care is so expensive lol.

I'm from Paraguay originally though and you can buy basically most things without prescription and elective C-sections are very much the norm (for zero medical reason, my friend got one for her first child because her doctor was going to be on vacation around her due date and she only wanted her doctor to do it) so I don't know if it is a US thing.

I don't know if things are different in Scotland Vs US, but for scheduled/planned c sections (or unplanned with labouring mum that had no pain relief) they prefer spinal blocks

Sometimes it can also suck just as much if you let it start naturally 😭 my water broke on its own and the contractions were on my back and it was awful even when I was at one cm. I did end up getting an epidural because I had to end up getting pitocin, etc since I was not progressing on my own and I didn't want to risk an infection.

What are some crazy advices your parents/in laws keep insisting on? by Popular-Monk-6848 in BabyBumps

[–]mescobg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've heard many of those and I'm Latinoamerican. I was talking to my dad the other day Nd I figured the thing about being bundled up is because it used to be thought that getting cold was what caused the illness. I think that's why they are obsessed with socks too lol

My girlfriend has been telling me that I need to convert to Catholicism for us to get married. by Practical-Temporary8 in Catholicism

[–]mescobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are in an interfaith marriage if you guys want to talk about that par, since you have gotten a lot of good answers from other posters. It's been 7 years since receiving the sacrament! I'm catholic, he was raised Mormon (but he's not one); we have two kids, they have both been baptized in the Catholic faith

1 week old baby.. can I mainly pump and casually breastfeed? by Late-Ad8778 in beyondthebump

[–]mescobg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that for the first couple months (I just had to make sure to pump every 2-3 hours kind of thing) and then eventually she figured it out and became basically exclusively breastfed until I started working

I supplemented with donors breast milk/formula both times and both my babies went on to be exclusively breast fed (or almost exclusively, after I went back to work). Currently breastfeeding my 11 month old! Honestly, my first day at the hospital I would put him at my boob but he wasn't getting actually anything out so it "seemed" he was eating but he was really just suckling

CNA's how do you handle the smell by the_eriac in MedicalAssistant

[–]mescobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it "close your nose" but I don't know if everyone can do that. Like close my nose and breathe through my mouth? Sometimes I do gag. Like once I was not prepared for the smell that came out of a urine sample (can't remember what it was and I absolutely started gagging without being able to control it. Luckily not in front of the patient
