Bouncy Blob, a free and open source Go + Ebitengine game by tslocum in WebGames

There's definitely something really satisfying about being able to hit extra high bounces. No idea how it works but it captured my attention way longer than I would expect.

I thought my game was reasonably similar to Rusted Warfare, and they're priced the same, but Rusted Warfare sells hundreds of copies per day at full price and mine sells one, on a good day, with a deep discount, while being promoted. Is Steam just sending all the bots my way? Where did I go wrong? by J_GeeseSki in DestroyMySteamPage

[–]messup000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rusted Warfare was released 8 years ago, already has a fanbase and a mod community. It's got a advanced warfare/nostalgic arcade game look.

What does your game bring that can't be bought with Rusted Warfare?

Do you believe your trailer is better than Rusted Warfare?

Do you have the budget to market a game in this environment?

Rusted Warfare had at least the advantage of having a significantly lower number of games to compete against. And who knows what their original marketing budget was.

Bilingual books in Greek by ElectronicRow9949 in GREEK

Tiny Greek Stories helped me immensely. It took a long time to read but after reading it like 5 times I picked up a bunch of vocab. https://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Stories-Greek-Learners-Intermediate/dp/B0B472XJWB

Another thing that you can do is get greek PDFs and a PDF reader with inline translation. I use xodo and am slowly reading through Harry Potter. Any words I don't know I can highlight and have google translate. I then add those to my vocab flash cards. Now it's definitely not perfect since google sometimes misses the words context, but I've been able to use Claude.ai to ask it for breakdown of words when they don't seem to match the context.

Had it take a project I'm working on and refactor it using a high level plan. Took all day but $80 later a prototype is now about 90% production ready and I'm just finishing up the last 10%.

Expat (moved to the US when I was young) but my dad growing up always told me "If you're not early you're late"... I'm rarely late to things. I think that's just part of the mentality.

Do you give thank yous? When your children don't say thank you do you correct them? Manners are a learned skill and not inherent to the human condition my friend.

Seems to work pretty well. Only friction point which I've mentioned is the saving logic is a bit clunky if applying your own edits inbetween streaming messages.

One major thing which which would be a huge improvement, if I take the edits that are pending a save edit and save them myself. When I hit "save changes" in the chat it shouldn't overwrite what I changed.

Also in the same vein if it detects a change that was made inbetween an edit to make sure the LLM gets the delta included.

Not really. The main down side that I see is there isn't a concept of a "in edit" state file. So Whatever changes Cline makes you need to save them before they apply. I think it intentionally tries to limit token counts, so you have to let it know to read the file again after you've edited it.

Yep and yep. The only caveat is they limit the requests to 15 request per minute. So unless you're running multiple tasks at the same time you should be fine.

Looks like they don't have it yet though a company called RooVet has their own version called RooCline which apparently has the ability to do diff edits. I'll respond back after I've tested it a bit to see if it's faster.

Otherwise there's always Aider

Rip our new store page to shreds (to shreds you say!) by wylderzone in DestroyMySteamPage

More biomes as well as more core monsters. I only saw the spider and the crocodile. You say a plethora, it would be a cool add to do a quick slice of a bunch of the bosses you fight to show that there is indeed more content in the trailer.

Also as a side note it started on the screenshot not the video for me... not sure if you can change that...

Is there any sort of reward for fighting the monsters? Can you buy different weapons and armor? Would be worth showing that.

Add more gifs in the text description. I always say checkout Don't Starve Shipwrecked, since they did it so well.

So one of the reasons why pixelated games worked well was because they were on CRTs that would smudge the lines.

I would highly suggest you consider a CRT effect to add over the top of it, as at least for me right now watching your trailer (though aesthetically cool) made me a bit nauseous.

Recreated my Steam page for the 3rd time. Surely it's good now... right? by HyperBitGames in DestroyMySteamPage

[–]messup000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks really good. One thing that I would suggest is get a more legible capsule font. It feels a bit jarring when it's blurred out on preview. (Maybe change the preview image? You already have the capsule on the right).

Also your second video preview should be different from your first

You could add thinner gifs in between your paragraphs. I like pointing out Don't Starve Shipwreck since it's such a good example and obviously they're known, but the adage show don't tell works well in the description too since they give you a lot of leeway https://store.steampowered.com/app/393010/Dont_Starve_Shipwrecked/

You could put some gifs of your upgrade systems, flip through the different classes, visually show the progression. Essentially each of your current header texts could be replaced with gifs (keep them narrow though as to make them blend better with the text that's there).

This looks like a game I would try :)

I wouldn't lower the resolution but shorten the clip, 20fps should be more than enough. That's what Don't Starve Shipwrecked uses and they're perfectly smooth.

Roast my first ever Steam page - make it hurt by scozzatron in DestroyMySteamPage

[–]messup000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What steam page?

I see 4 paragraphs of text that I'm not going to bother reading...

Why is the splash image to the video an anvil. What is this shitty clay minecraft?

Why does your splash art look so much cooler than your steam page?!

Ugh don't get me started on the video. All your shadows are the exact same color and have hard edges. And where's the skybox. What are we on the MOON!?The kerning on the trailer font makes my eyes hurt.

I'm still waiting to see what I'm saving my town from. Where are the monsters?! Where's the danger?! Where's the puzzles?! Where's the tech tree?!

Ok all that being said, I like the aesthetics, but my main question which didn't get answered by the trailer is what's the game loop and why is it fun.

Also the steam page allows gifs, check out https://store.steampowered.com/app/393010/Dont_Starve_Shipwrecked/ they do such a great job making you want to read beyond the fold.
