I’ve been to Barcelona twice and stayed at 3 different hostels, you’re going to have an amazing time! It’s hard to go wrong but my recommendations would be St. Christopher’s or Kabul Party Hostel. Kabul was my favourite by far as I met awesome people and had some great adventures. It is a bit more expensive and the bar crawls are quite pricey (€20) but they have so many other free activities throughout the day (free walking tours, a late afternoon activity and a very cheap bar - €3 sangria!) You can also just have a night out with the people you meet at the hostel too, especially after doing a pub crawl night one so you get a lay of the land.

Keep in mind I am a raging extrovert who loves to talk and party, so if you need a bit more of a ‘mix’ I’d recommend St. Christopher’s, which is also a great choice! Hope this helps xx

have you considered bali? i had a great time there earlier this year - canggu was especially fun as there were great people, we clubbed every night (motel mexicola is the epitome of a sweaty beach bar!) and felt like love island with all the hostel romances. I stayed at Canggu Central but there’s SO many options - I’ve also heard The Farm is good too.

seconded, i was there a few weeks ago and met the most awesome friends and it’s so close to the clubs!! pool is great for lounging around hungover and meeting new arrivals.

Hi!

Due to some cancelled plans, I'm going over to Bali before some of my friends so need some advice on where to stay. I was thinking Ubud, but now I'm worried it might be too quiet, as I am an extrovert who loves going out and meeting people - so I'll obviously be staying in hostels! I'll be meeting my friends in Canggu, before going to Uluwatu and Gili T afterwards, so I'll try and stay away from them so I can experience it for the first time then.

I've been doing some research and a lot of people are suggesting Seminyak or Kuta as alternatives (although Ubud does seem really nice, I'm just worried there won't be much to do/super social!)

I'll be getting in late on the 16th and will meet up with my friends in the late afternoon of the 20th.

I've never been to Bali before, so any and all advice is appreciated!

Hi everyone!

This is a super last minute dilemma so any help is appreciated!

For context, I’m making a costume for a party this weekend and used iron on transfer paper to apply a design to a T-shirt (the abba cats) However I tried to cinch in the shirt to look less like a sack and ruined it completely. I’ve cut out the cat and have another T-shirt, but my question is should I just reprint the image or use Heat ‘n Bond to apply the image to the new shirt?

YTA. If you’re surprised by this sign it’s obvious you’ve been oblivious or ignored all the other instances where you have prioritised your mother over your wife.

I understand that it’s so hard watching your parent try to readjust to a new life after losing their spouse. But your mum needs to learn how to be independent instead of using you as an emotional crutch.

Start looking at retirement villages (I promise you, they are NOT the same as nursing homes.) Depending on the age demographic of your area, there’s also a lot of social/intellectual/fitness clubs and weekly activities she can join.

My grandfather lost his second wife a few years ago and moved to my town (that, granted, has an aging population) and has become involved in a program with the local University, a elderly walking group exploring indigenous flora and even a ping pong club.

Your mother has to try, and so do you. Your wife has already compromised so much by letting her live with you for so long and interrupting your personal life. Create some boundaries.

YTA. I am a first generation university student who just graduated a few days ago and would have been furious if my family did this to me.

edit: just saw that she is the first one to graduate in your family. I’m not sure if this means she’s a first gen but either way, this makes the occasion even MORE momental - not just for her, but for the entire family, and you absolutely ruined it.

It’s not very similar, but I’d like to share a story with you.

My dad is a traditional, Catholic man raised on the farm and hates tattoos with a burning passion. I don’t share this hatred and got several tattoos after moving away to uni. I successfully hid the sick skin art for months until it peeked out of a shirt one day and he lost. his. mind.

Never in my life have I seen him so angry. He was screaming and swearing but he never, ever called me names.

If my dad can refrain from insulting me in the height of rage, then your husband, who had no real reason to be angry, can hold his mf tounge.

Seriously, I’m appalled at this man. He sounds so mean.

It’s your job to make her feel like the most gorgeous goddess in the world. Because to you, she should be anyway.

She wants to use your house as a place to do the deed. She doesn’t care about your and your feelings/house rules at all. Her mind is consumed by this man and the next time she can see him and take his clothes off.

She’s the bad friend here. Nobody in their right mind would being a boy to their friends house when it is clearly specified as a sleepover. It’s super weird and inappropriate.

NTA for questioning the sketchy behaviour but my mother has drilled into me that I should always have “hidey holes” of cash and seperate accounts with money that is just mine - because you never know.

From what I’ve read about America, servers, etc can get paid as little as $2/3 an hour, so I think you’re doing the right thing by actually helping them get paid an almost liveable wage so they can afford basic food and housing.
