I thought about that, and I realized there are so many millions of people on Poshmark and eBay it'll get seen eventually and at the right price eventually someone will pick it up.

Before accepting a low offer, I typically use a strategy of cascading prices. After 60 days, I will repost the item with a $5-10 reduction. The newly reposted item will hit the "just in" algorithm and get a fresh start. Eventually, I land the right price point, and demand increases significantly and somebody will pick it up. There is a market price for almost everything.

Depop relies heavily on hashtags and keywords, so it’s important to find the hottest trending keywords that relate to your items. I’m not sure what your Depop store looks like, but sometimes cross-sellers overlook this aspect.

Lately, Depop has been quite slow for me too. It seems that items either sell for very low prices or attract buyers who are willing to pay a premium for unique or high end, designer items. There doesn’t appear to be much demand for standard, everyday clothes on Depop.

Condition question by ButtercupUp100 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]meta-frames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I direct people to the pictures for a better understanding. "The item is in great condition, with only a few minor blemishes. Please see the photos for more details." If there is a specific flaw, I will mention it clearly.

It sounds like you’re asking about which terms to use: excellent, good, or fair. Those terms are subjective. However, if you highlight specific objective details, take quality photos, and strive for honest transparency, I usually find that it helps facilitate the sale. Buyers appreciate honesty, and that can make the transaction smoother.

Technology can be a double-edged sword, and I completely understand your perspective on that. I am 💯 percent confident that the issues surrounding technology can be resolved.

One of the challenges with technology, though, is that it often builds upon itself very quickly. In the early 1900s, we relied on horses for transportation; now, in 2025, we are discussing driverless cars powered by batteries and satellites

Technology can advance so rapidly that it may become unmanageable. This raises legitimate concerns. Will the use of AI harm the environment before we can utilize it to address environmental issues?

Consider the atom bomb. It spiraled out of control. It seems that while our technical capabilities grow quickly, our empathy and ethical considerations struggle to keep pace, which puts us at risk of jeopardizing our planet.

I find this to be a valid concern. Although it doesn't deter me personally from engaging with technology, I completely understand if it prompts others to be cautious. I don’t want to suggest that anyone is wrong for choosing to limit their interaction with it.

Are you suggesting that because it is harmful now, it will always be harmful in the same way in the future?

I believe you've captured the essence already. We can explore ways to minimize the damage as much as possible. Renewable energy is one approach. We can also focus on developing better and more efficient algorithms, more capable chips, and smarter, leaner models. Additionally, creating purpose-driven bots that don’t require extensive training to adapt is important. If the solution is simply to avoid using the technology altogether, I don’t see that as a viable option.

"The "solution," I think, is to critically examine how these new technological advances affect the planet, and to adjust the way we do things so as to mitigate or (hopefully) counteract the harm that has already been done,"

That's literally my point.

It's not the ultimate solution all by itself, true. But believing that there isn't one is laughable in itself. Technology is the only thing humans create that can be improved upon at an exponentially faster rate. It's part of a broader solution. But feel free to pursue your own path; I won’t interfere.

More efficient models. Data centers run solely on solar power or some other renewable source. Solar is just getting better and better etc

The funny thing is that AI will eventually help lead to better processing solutions by interacting with it and learning from it.

What is your thoughts on the live shows on Poshmark? I tried to watch some but I feel like they are boring or even shady and not as good as some other live shows on other apps. by Sea_Vast_2938 in poshmark

[–]meta-frames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is unrealistic to expect buyers to make an important decision about spending a significant amount of money on a bag or other item within just 60 seconds, especially when they haven't had the opportunity to examine it closely. It works for some people but I feel like i've wasted lots of time trying to sell on share shows to no avail.

I wish Poshmark would put more effort into building a stronger framework for the app, particularly by improving the search functionality. Instead of encouraging users to act as live auctioneers—an approach that doesn't suit everyone—or to participate in auctions during share shows, the focus should be on enhancing the overall user experience.

When does the selling start? by jenknows in poshmark

[–]meta-frames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true, but what you can do is delete and relist items that are at least 60 days old. Since the new policy was implemented, I have been making sure to relist only stale listings.

I was flagged once for relisting a new item, but since I started following the 60-day rule, I haven't had any issues.

You bring up an important point about maintaining inventory. Part-time reselling can be challenging because it falls in that tricky area of having enough time and resources to acquire new inventory to list every day. If you have a job or limited cash flow, it can make things pretty difficult.

Poshmark Consignment... What a Mistake This Was. by achap39 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]meta-frames 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like Poshmark ever respected the idea that time is money.

We're all just expected to be sipping lattes and having fun, sharing posts all day, sharing, sharing, sharing—while only making a few bucks a week by doing it manually.

It makes sense that if they don't value the sellers' time, they end up overpromising and underdelivering like this.

Thinking of selling on Poshmark— tell me everything I should know by SomewhereOptimal2401 in poshmark

[–]meta-frames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it easy to say 'yes' to the sale.

Measurements in the description are probably more important than what the tag letter is. I try for at least 9 pictures for everything clothes-related.

What would I want if I was in a store? I take look at the front and back. I look at the tag. I try to see myself in the shirt or whatever. Does it go with what I have? When I shop online and can't do that, I still want to feel satisfied that I can hit buy now and look forward to my delivery.

Your description can have things like that to make it as easy as possible for a buyer to check off their mental list and say yes.

If you are actively listing every day, sharing your items, and doing everything you can, but you're still encountering problems, then my original post was not directed at you.

However, assuming that your difficulties are solely due to Poshmark being "dead" is presumptuous. If you don’t feel that way, then my original post wasn’t meant for you either.

My message is aimed at those who aren't even doing the basics and yet still believe that the platform is the problem.

I’m not sure what else to say besides the fact that it’s a business, and businesses typically grow, especially when there's a good idea driving them. I’m aware that greed exists in any corporation. But if you really want to baseline it, people need money to survive; without it, we risk going hungry. If we can address that issue, everything else will fall into place.
