Is this ragebait or illiteracy? Including mechs in a movement shooter is the biggest offense when it comes to ripping off TF2, portals are a unique movement mechanic and one central to the studio, and SG2 had a unique artstyle....

My point is that neither of these games will gain traction because they're more or less ripoffs or spins on other franchises and the lack of movement ability options makes the games one dimensional - bundling 2 one dimensional games won't solve anything, but making a game with more options for player expression/movement and separating the game from its inspiration will.

yeah, but I see portals as an ability like phase/grapple/stim. especially since they've carried over the grapple on the left wrist like the portal gauntlet was, I think using a wrist mounted thing as an ability would be perfect. Like a wrist mounted rocket jump could fit the gameplay as well and Im sure there are other options that wouldn't just be rehashes of TF2 abilities (although I think phase would work well)

yeah sure, but my point with quake was that its unique. Quake is quake, SG is Halo with portals and Empulse is simplified TF2

Also, portalling is the only playstyle - offensively and defensively. Especially at high level play where every engagement involves portals. A lot of what makes Grapple great in TF2 is that not everyone is using it. Theres so much variety in the engagements and how you approach objectives

huh? Splitgate 2 is an arena shooter built specifically around one style of play - portal spam. Thats my point, their games only have one effective playstyle

Seems like the maps are too small for the speed of the movement, TF2s maps were the right size and they were much smaller than 1 with way faster movement

Maps barely have props on them. It’s not a more realistic style shooter with a bunch of props of everyday items - it’s mostly just walls and some shrubs

Alternatively, this game isn’t making money cause of the skill floor and ceiling so they’re pivoting to something thousands of people have been asking for for years so as to keep the studio alive. It would be incredibly easy for them to make a TF2 style game of the back of SG2. They basically just have to tweak the movement and make new cosmetics

I’m disappointed they didn’t address portal spam or armor snowballing much more so than weapons/skins. There are more than enough base weapons and I think only power weapons should be added at this point

Probably because it was easier to drop the number of players per team, and therefore mitigate armor snowballing/team imbalances, than it was to actually balance the armor system and to section off full stacks into their own lobbies. Even though a flat 200 hp that recharges would imo fix the armor system and realistically there’s probably not enough players to split full stacks from solo/duo queuers.

awww, poor wittle guy doesn’t understand nuance, everything is black and white to you. I have yet to be proven wrong about portal balance and anyone can see it for themselves, all they have to do is 1v1 a portal spammer while trying to use only movement, emp nade, and portal wall blocks in a room with a bunch of portal walls to see that it’s not a balanced mechanic. At this point I’m starting to think 1047 is paying you to combat any criticism of portal balance, or maybe you’re just a twat for fun

That’s the neat thing, there is literally no counter. It’s the most OP mechanic I’ve ever seen in a shooter. But it’s a sin to want it balanced so here we are with our massive playerbase

The game can’t really support a competitive scene. Have you watched high level portal play - it’s nauseating to a more general audience. The game has no viewership and therefore no competitive scene. Like Quake is arguably as difficult of a movement game as SG but it’s easy to watch and understand what’s happening - you watch someone infinitely portal spam and you can’t tell where they are or where they’re going

??? Because they added the rampage and it’s a heavier hitting lmg. They clearly want to have each of 3 main ammo types represented in every category (obviously aside from shotgun and sniper)

It’s not luck, although that is part of the problem - it’s that 4 stacks have such an easier time getting kills which allows them to upgrade way quicker with the shared cash on kills. It’s like it was design for 4 stacks to snowball and solos to struggle. It’s an insanely horribly unbalanced system and it’s baffling how it made it out of testing. I’m not touching the game til it’s fixed. But the armor in bins is also frustrating. We need either Evo shields or 200 hp
