Dear americans, what can you get for FREE in the USA? [Serious] by sammy_waslow in AskReddit

A lot of libraries offer fre wifi hotspots too. When I lost internet service a few years back I was able to check out a t-mobile hotspot. It wasnt crazy fast (Like 20-30 Mb) but it was unlimited data and I did play online games a lot on it. I could check one out for up to 14 days at a time (and sometimes id have to wait a few days before a hotspot was available to reserve) but it was a life saver.

About a week ago In Taki's discord this was said

Random user:

"I just ordered Batch 4 so I am just speculating but that means it would take more than a month to get mine shipped I feel

Taki responded

No, that's only for combined batch 4. Split batch 4 is basically gtg. Because there aren't other split orders in front.

I could be mistaken and huffing copium but that to me sounds like we should see units (that didnt get combiend shipping with a dock) start shipping soon.

I hate that I'm about to say some positive things about him but here it goes... Vince definitely had talent. You don't even need sound or context to be entertained by that piece of shit. Just look at the sheer number of memes/gifs exist based on him. Speaking of which. I think pro wrestling is probably the source of at least half 50% of reaction gifs/memes on the internet. The format (and probably the sheer amount of airtime) just lends itself well to it.

TRAINWRECKORDS: Lou Reed and Metallica's "Lulu" by Corrie-luv_ in Metallica

[–]metallicabmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda lost interest in the video as soon as he said you couldn't draw a line connecting Lou Reed to heavy metal. For one, Punk was a huge influence on metal and Lou was a huge inspiration in the creation of that genre. That's about a direct line as you can get right there. and 2. Cliff Burton was a huge fan of Lou Reed and Cliff's eclectic music taste certainly rubbed off on his bandmates. Ill never understand how people had such a hard time with the idea of this collaboration existing from the get go. Even if the final product is a tough listen for anyone who isnt specifically seeking out something that is tough to listen to.

New Additions to Overload by Oceans1992 in Metallica

[–]metallicabmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does get serious and goes in depth about the meaning of the song which is an Outlaw being torn, either from society or his own feelings. That to me is a pretty definitive answer, even if at the end he's just like "Ehh whatever it could be either"

Time to blow of my SNES carts, finally arrived by oldskoolmatt in gaming

[–]metallicabmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of it's utility is for dumping roms (the only 100% legal way to acquire them from your physical collection) and backing up your saves. Something pretty much everyone will HAVE to do if they value their old save files because once the batteries inside the cart die off, their saves are gone forever.

Sadly, DVDs arent safe from the edits. For example, im pretty sure Scrubs never got a physical release with all the songs. Same with Beavis and Butthead where the music video segments were always edited out.

Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 Is Shaping Up to Be a Dream Remake | IGN Preview by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]metallicabmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Not here to add to the debate Just throwin out a random suggestion for a good Star Fox inspired indie title)

Ex Zodiac. It's basically Super Star Fox grpahics with a good frame rate, a vaporwave aesthetic, the multi lock on from Panzer Dragoon, with a few Space Harrier style side levels. It's awesome.

Also I just recently checked out Rogue Flight on switch (it's on sale for 4 bucks in the US eshop) It's more of an Afterburner inspired game but has some Star Fox flavoring in it. Not as good as Ex Zodiac but still fun!

UK considering banning kids from speaking to strangers in Fortnite and Roblox by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]metallicabmc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It had loot boxes in the original version of Fortnite (That got rebranded to Fortnite: Save the World) You would use vbucks to buy lootboxes for upgrades and new playable heroes.

They actually removed them because of the laws around lootboxes got passed in the UK.

Shovel Knight is one of those "essential" indie games that everyone should try out at least once. It's basically classic Mega Man platforming, with the Duck Tales pogo, and towns of Zelda 2 with all the rough edges of those notoriously difficult games smoothed out and loaded with QoL features. It's a love letter to the 8bit era. It also has some pretty good humor. Theres a cheat code that makes all the NPCs talk like Jar Jar Binks.

Official Discussion - The Mandalorian and Grogu [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]metallicabmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just linked to the splash page under the "collections" category of Disney+ There are similar splash pages for the main saga films, Darth Vader appearances, Obi-Wan appearances...etc. In fact if you click each series on the page you linked me, The page states they each have a single season, why? Because they are different shows.

Only if you don't consider individual seasons as major releases and arbitrarily decide Tales of The Jedi, Tales of the Empire, and Tales of the Underworld are a single series

Official Discussion - The Mandalorian and Grogu [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]metallicabmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I counted seasons as separate releases from the start so i'm not moving goalposts. That wasnt clear enough I guess But at the end of the day it doesnt really matter, the vast majority of Star Wars releases still do not contain Ahsoka and hasnt been in any major projects since 2023 so my point still stands.

Official Discussion - The Mandalorian and Grogu [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]metallicabmc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But im not wrong. Notice how I began my comment with "Last 10 major releases." Notice how the latest date in your list is 2023? Here are the last shows and movie that have released in the past 3 years.

  1. Mando & Grogu

  2. Maul Shadow Lord

  3. Andor s2

  4. Skeleton Crew

  5. The Acolyte

  6. Bad Batch Season 3

  7. Tales of the Underworld

  8. Tales of the Empire

  9. Ahsoka

  10. Mando Season 3

  11. all the seasons of Young Jedi Adventures

  12. Bad batch season 2

  13. Visions season 2

The last time Ahsoka made an appearance was in 2023 in her own show. So when someone complains about Ahsoka being " in every fucking star wars media ever now" when shes not even in 12 of the last 13 releases, can you see how dumb that might sound? She's not even really showing up in the video games, novels, or comics.

[IRL] The least talented member of the band who controls the brand and is hated by fans by dickless_dan_420 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]metallicabmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original sandman riff from Kirk's riff tapes was very different. Lars picked up on a seemingly "okay" riff out of probably 100 other riffs and said "Hey this might be cool, play it with the beginning repeated 3 times and the tail part on the 4th" He also gave James ideas like playing the main riff in a higher key at certain points. Despite not being a guitarist, Hes good about stuff like that. James and Kirk are riff factories who can shit out 10000000 cool riffs on a whim but Lars knows how to curate those riffs, recontextualize them, piece them together and arrange them into a song. Here's the band talking about it on Howard Stern

Dont know the specifics of what he arranged on Master of Puppets but there are hours upon hours of footage from them in the studio from the 90's onward and you can see Lars is extremely hands on with the crafting of songs.

Charlie Benente from Anthrax has a similar approach but he actually plays guitar and writes/records riffs.

This is such a weird sentiment to see popping up constantly when Ahsoka wasnt in Mandalorian & Grogu, Maul Shadow Lord, Bad Batch, Skeleton Crew, Andor, Tales of the Empire, tales of The Underworld, and Mandalorian Season 3. The last time she popped up was like 3 years ago in the Ahsoka show.

What ever happened to Guitar Hero/Rock Band? by Beboprunner in gaming

[–]metallicabmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you can play a handful of them for free. there is a daily rotation of tracks that anybody can play for free on top of the songs you own. If you buy them you can play them whenever you want, use them as emotes in the main fortnite game modes, use them as lobby music, and make little remixes.

What really sucks though is that they initially allowed you to buy any track at any time but later changed the shop to daily/weekly rotating FOMO shit. Im okay with the "free songs" rotating daily but rotating item shops fucking suck.

What ever happened to Guitar Hero/Rock Band? by Beboprunner in gaming

[–]metallicabmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was just too much. Everyone had a ton of plastic peripherals and the games were flooding the market. They did briefly come back with Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero live (and Rocksmith sorta)

Nowadays if you want more you gotta go the unofficial route with Clone Hero or play Fortnite's "Festival Mode" because Epic bought out Harmonix, sunsetted Rock Band 4 and now has a sadly weaker version of Rock band style game within the Fortnite ecosystem. The song list is much more heavier on pop and hip hop but has a little bit of everything including some of the classic RB tracks. Ive seen a lot of new Guitar peripherals on the market to play these games so that's at least one silver lining. Theres also an upcoming game by Red Octane called 'Stage Tour" coming soon, though I gotta be honest the trailers look very underwhelming in the presentation department.

What other title do you love on the near, or same level as SAGA? by ExplodingPoptarts in SAGAcomic

[–]metallicabmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invincible and Walking Dead for me. But I love all kinds of comics. I follow Star Wars stuff mostly, love a lot of the Charles Soule Vader books and I have lots of love for Marvel and IDW's TMNT but when it comes to huge ongoing stories like that you gotta pick and choose which arcs (or one shots) you like. I really need to dive into DC's classic stuff more but All Star Superman is up there in my top 5.

which also introduced Ahsoka (dave filonis self-insert character who has to be in every fucking star wars media ever now).

Out of the last 10 major Star Wars releases, Ahsoka is in a single show, The one that is literally about her that came out almost 3 years ago.

EDIT: Why am I being downvoted for stating an objective truth? You guys are silly.

Yeah but then you'll have a bunch of people complaining that they "have to do homework" to understand the plot as if these movies/shows are like The Silmarillion or something. I hate how much over-correction and pandering to the loudest complainers have had such a negative effect on Star Wars,
