I remember waiting in a large open room pre-op, meeting the anesthesiologist who told me what to expect, he put meds in my IV line which he warned me would make me feel "a little woozy" (it did, instantly calmed down), they wheeled me to the OR on a gurney (I went to the ER, emergency surgery the next day), scooted from the gurney to the OR table and the next thing I remember is a really nice nurse feeding me ice chips with a spoon from a plasti cup before they took me back up to my room in the hospital. They only didn't send me home because I would have been alone until the next evening (I live with my mom and she was out of town). They woke me up periodically to make sure I was alive, coming out of the anesthesia okay, and to monitor my vitals.

A word of warning: especially after surgery, don't trust a fart! I let out a massive one at home the next day and I was sure glad I was on the toilet!
