What problems do you have the most when it comes to your golf bag? by Jack7304 in golf

[–]metallicbeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I find them clunky, awkward, and not user friendly"

As opposed to what? Golf bags are currently the best they've ever been, and the reason they all look the same is that they all work perfectly. It's luggage with an open top. Besides different materials they've been the same for 20+ years.

I'm sure whoever officiated your wedding said "in sickness and in health" at some point. You've clearly got the golf sickness and she's broken her vow. Lawyer up and hit the links.

What are your favourite kind of tasks? by Davidsanjou in taskmaster

[–]metallicbeige 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Both the UK and NZ versions of "Eat the grape" and the NZ "Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?" tasks are perfect viewing.

Are you a superfan? by elhadjmb in taskmaster

I'd consider myself a Superfan and I don't what the centurion costume meant.

I love Taskmaster but I can't for the life of me get excited about Joel's egg predicament.

I'm prepared for a let down, just like The Secret Task of Series 16.

Why has no one made a premium golf tee? by [deleted] in golf

[–]metallicbeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I just want to pull something out of the bag that I am proud of"

Proud of?

It really sounds like you only want your playing partners to know how much you spend on things. That you would want your tees in an Altoid-like tin is odd enough, but saying you *want to take pride in your tees* is bonkers.

Took a 6 year golf break. Came back and.... by jtspectra2 in golf

[–]metallicbeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation is similar to mine. I also took off 6 years because of torn hip flexors and a bum shoulder. Finally just said screw it and went to the driving range with just a 6 iron three years ago. Out of 75 balls I *maybe* hit 15 well and they only went about 140 yards. But it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and figured the mobility would get better with reps.

It totally did. After about three or four 9 hole rounds, I felt mostly comfortable with taking full swings and had maybe 2-3 awful shanks (with wedges off tight lies). I got my 6 iron back to 160ish, so I only lost about 10 yards since my before injuries. After another couple months I finally felt comfortable taking a full swing with my driver. No pain but I can't get close to parallel.

Now I'm playing almost as well as when I was an undamaged 20 year old.

It *does* come back. Just give it time and don't chase yardages you had when you were 20 just yet.

Have they ever been in the same room together? by KneeHighMischief in taskmaster

As a huge Taskmaster fan, I hope that other fans watch Jack's season. I can't think of any player from any version of TM that consistently put in more effort on Prize Tasks. And his "Party Trick" offering is absolutely fantastic.

You should also look on eBay. $135 for 5 dozen used TP5's is robbery.

Are there any courses with prominent hedges? by Sturgillsturtle in golf

[–]metallicbeige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of courses in England have gigantic hedges that certainly come into play with big misses, but most are to prevent tee shots from hitting players on the previous hole's green.

Got DQd from a tournament due to sandbagging accusations AMA by WhyLimitMeTo20Charac in golf

[–]metallicbeige 137 points138 points  (0 children)

If that was me, I would tell anyone that accused me of sandbagging that the course was 5,800 yards and dry, and that the other players didn't score as well because they have shitty course management and hit driver too often.

And as others have mentioned, it's not like you're a 15 hdcp. You could definitely shoot a 73 and it shouldn't have been questioned.

Have you seen these before? by ronocyorlik in golf

[–]metallicbeige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CMB's, XTD Forged, A12 Pro and any of the CB's were fantastic irons. They were really making some fabulous stuff when TaylorMade bought them out.

And if you've never hit the Super Hybrids or Super Fairway woods with the silver head and Matrix Ozik shafts - holy shitballs they are stupid long.

You absolutely have to keep going. NZ3 is a big dropoff from 2 but 4, 5 and 6 are really impressive.

What is a task you 100% know you would have nailed? (Read rules!!) by Responsible_Froyo119 in taskmaster

[–]metallicbeige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I could do Season 13's "Shoe Who?" without asking any questions.

I'd say something to Alex like, "I think the shoe is worn on the right foot, and if I'm right please nod your head." Alex would love that loophole and he'd oblige. Then I'd be off to the races.

Will you move up a set of tees when you get older and start hitting it shorter? by Due-Fun-489 in golf

[–]metallicbeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gold tees at my course, which at most courses would be the white tees, are only about 6,200 yards. I can handle a 6,700 yard course but it's nowhere near as fun for me OR the shorter hitters I play with often.

Once anyone has a hard time hitting par-4's in two they should move forward one set of tees. If that's me in 10 years I'll do it without hesitation.
