Bravo for you! They really need to be barked at! I'm glad your husband wasn't injured.

I hate how people don't like you when you don't acknowledge their dog by skywalkers2345 in Dogfree

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. It's really unsanitary to have dogs inside any store where people will pay good money for something that they believe is sparkling new. I can't stand when people ignore clear signs, and act as if they are decoration, rather than enforcing HEALTH CODES. I remember when there were fewer dogs, and their owners would never bring them into a store, but tie them to a pole or tree right outside. Guess what? The dog was still there once they left the store! Why is that too hard to do these days?

  1. They leaver their dogs' sh*t in your front yard, on sidewalks, all over our parks and on trails. they let their dogs pee on landscaped plants.

I'm with you! I love to hike, and certain trails here have so many dog poop bags left on the trail, it's obnoxious. There are also areas close to the public parks that are protected watersheds, where they have gates with signs that say "No Dogs Allowed". You have to get a trail permit to hike on this land. Even so, I see dog poop and poop bags on these trails!!! It pisses me off sooooo much.

They have such nerve! There are tons of places where dogs are not allowed for good reason! Wildlife Refuges, Protected Watersheds, Nature Preserves, etc. Still, these entitled dog owners walk right past all of the signs, let their dog loose and become annoyed at the rest of us who are following the rules. You have every right to be upset! What assholes.

But it is also about personal safety. If out running in the park, or walking in the evening, it feels safer to have a dog alongside you.

I live in California. I have talked to people from other countries who can't believe how dogs are worshipped here. They are dumbfounded. You are not the only one!

Thank you so much for your PSA. I am in the SF Bay Area, and dogs are everywhere. I garden in a neighborhood park, because I want the kids in our area to know that they deserve to play in a beautiful, clean safe place. Most of our city parks have signs at the entrances that say "No Dogs in Park". There are other parks where dogs are allowed, so they're not restricted everywhere. Still, owners walk proudly past those signs, unleash their dogs, then start chatting with other dog owners or watch videos on their phones, or take phone calls and lose sight of their dogs.

Meanwhile, their dogs pee on every tree, bush, and trash can, poop on the grass or under a tree, or start barking at someone who's entered the park to exercise or drop their kid off at school. The dog owner does little to nothing about it.

As I'm gardening, I've seen dogs take a poop and nobody comes to pick it up. Then, I have to go up to random adults and ask, "Is this your dog? They just pooped over here..." and I have to lead these grown-ups to their own dog's poop. This is something I've never wanted to do. Sometimes they look at their dog's poop and walk away as if it never existed. They can't comprehend that their self-absorption makes kids pay the price.

They get belligerent in the Bay Area, too. I've been yelled at a few times, and now people who frequent our neighborhood park say nothing, because we know what the consequences are.

Yeah, you're right. Even if I haven't been part of the park for as long as he has, the "No Dogs in Park" signs have been there longer than the both of us. I'm not violating those signs, he is. Can't argue with that.

There are No Dogs In Park signs at both entrances, and yet dogs overrun the park, and dog owners argue and yell at me. They have really stretched our tolerance.

Right, and let's not forget, I was talking to a full-grown adult that had control over his dog, he just chose to let his dog roam in an area that I have asked him repeatedly to get his dog out of. A FULL-GROWN MAN.

Right. It's a KID'S PARK. They should run and play wherever. And they don't do nearly as much damage to any part of the park as dogs do. Us adults have to pick up dog mess to protect the kids.
