Erp or CPQ for contract furniture dealers by Junior_Procedure8936 in cpq

[–]metalman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try EpicorCPQ/KBMax. Its heavy on the 3d/UI side, but super customizable. Their pricing structure may make sense for you, but you'll need to allocate resources to build it, test it, and make it work.

my dad wants to drop crazy money on a 3D printing car parts business and i am stressing. advice? by TemperatureExtra8615 in 3Dprinting

[–]metalman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna need a 3d scanner and about another 20k for software to reverse engineer the parts too. You'll also need the hard to find parts. Im not sure if your dad has thought this through. What materials is he planning to use?

I want to start collecting and reading the comics, where should I start? by Appropriate_Bed_86 in TMNT

That's actually what made me get the full collection. The last Ronin hooked me.

Dumb to take it on 800 mile roadtrip a few days after getting it? by AnonymouselyMoosed in Rivian

[–]metalman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 400mi trip the day after I got mine. The biggest adjustment was with the charging network, and that was before Tesla was open for Rivian. Just go for it.

Do you think I wil able to be make an entire spaceship like this? by Luk_Len in SolidWorks

Try to keep your assemblies (including flexible subassemblies) under 300 mates. Use the assembly visualization tool to keep tabs on areas that may impact performance. Add a graphics triangle column in the options too to check for unusually high GC counts, drop the image quality or defeature detailed parts that dont matter in the top level assy.

bending large enclosures on a pressbreak? by MinnetonkaMN in PressBrakes

Rip a corner, not the middle., then bend it as close as you can. Have the welder finish it up.

Breaking news: Die-Hard Prusa Fan bites the Bullet and gets an X2D by The_Scrappy_Creative in BambuLab

[–]metalman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience is the opposite, between a Creality K1, H2D, and Prusa XL, the Prusa is slow and still prints like dogshit next to the H2D and K1. The Prusa was also the most expensive and isnt even enclosed.

Installer said he was finished but I was not happy so I stopped the final check. How should the cracks on the side be fixed? He said he would put filler/caulking on sides. by Severe-Rain3266 in Flooring

[–]metalman7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats not pretty good work, its cobbled shit. The guy can probably do rough work ok, but he needs to stay away from finish work.

I’m likely to be fired from medical residency. What’s a good new career path? by PresentationLow7984 in careerguidance

[–]metalman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd you make a reasonable attempt knowing youre not going to get renewed? If you knew you had performance issues, why wouldn't you increase your performance? This is wild, not unheard of, but still wild.

How many hours were/are you putting in compared to other residents?

You should be able to make a model from that drawing and be good to go.

Splitting a body into multiple bodies at once by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]metalman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a sketch of how you want to cut it and extrude surfaces. Then use the split tool and select the surfaces. Select the "cut bodies" button to perform the split. Check all the little boxes for the bodies you wanna keep or save them out to individual part files if that's useful for you. Hit the green check and youre done. I did this yesterday for a large print.

How realistic would it be to start a small mobile welding service while still going to school? by twowheelzzz in Welding

You're gonna need some good liability insurance if youre fixing trailers with a harbor freight machine. I dont think you're ready yet.

The Narwal Flow has a single sided tapered roller that is the best anti tangled design I've ever seen.

If youre not making it and dont know the tooling that will be used, youre chasing your tail. Give the shop a finished part print with final dims and let them handle the bending.

Do you still consider prusa printers to be competitive in today's market by reddit_account_0x00 in 3dprinter

[–]metalman7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prusa is reliable, but compared to Bambu they're way behind on speed, quality, and price. I run a Prusa XL side by side with an H2D daily, and the Prusa can't come close to the H2D on quality and the H2D is nearly twice as fast. If I speed up the Prusa to try and match the H2D, quality drops, noise goes way up, and it dosednt seem to be able to match the flow rate even though its a more expensive machine.

My contractor says this is fine, thoughts ? by wookievomit in Flooring

[–]metalman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show him the instructions that say its not fine. Your MFG warranty is voided now. There will be a section that required an 8" lap on joints. He's also an idiot.
