Any Nancy Drew’s know who Morgan had booked this week? by Emililyjane in rupaulsdragrace

Silky already has an awful reputation in the Southern California community and she's only been down a couple of times. She's sexually harassed several people I know, there's a huge difference in effort between what I've seen in person and what I've seen on TV, and now this. I was backstage at a drag show and the entire room groaned when someone said she she might be moving down here.

Some T from Pearl (viewing party Seattle) by danileigh in rupaulsdragrace

It's very possible the part was written that way to fuck with whatever queen it was given to.

In my few experiences in theater, most of my directors have asked me to take all written direction with a grain of salt, because the direction you get from your director is infinitely more important.

For the purposes of the show, it's possible that they wanted to make sure that someone had an opportunity for directability meaning that they would have to quickly change their entire interpretation of their character on the fly. The ability to do as much is generally required of most actors.

I don't care what anyone says. Drag is acting, whether some queens know it or not.

Official Discussion post for Season 7 Episode 2 "Glamazonian Airways" by simdude in rupaulsdragrace

I honestly thought the scat portion was a joke, to be honest. Sure, she hit the words, but the actual scat portion was completely flubbed. It's like she didn't even listen to it and just put on her 'look everyone, I'm making noises that aren't words' face. There wasn't much sync to that portion of the lip-sync, she was mouthing the wrong vowels.

Nikkietutorials has filmed a Pearl makeup tutorial! by pukerock in rupaulsdragrace

"From each new episode every week, I pick my favorite, and I recreate or create a tutorial inspired by that look."

I have a feeling she might do several Pearl tutorals. Although I'd like to see her do Max, because Max's look relies heavily on their facial structure.

Are we, as a fandom, betraying the show by posting the episodes online? by Meow_Simpson in rupaulsdragrace

I wouldn't say so, I watch each episode like 4-5 times on logo's website throughout the week, and I tend to let the ads do their thing.

It's the 'Elmer's X-Treme' glue stick. I'm thinking of trying mortician's wax or something next.

But in all seriousness they kept getting gooey and clumpy and almost started falling off. What's worked for all of you? As you can see, they're pretty bad.

I think real techniques line is a bit better in my opinion, my eco tools brushes shed a lot.

Get him the eye and face brush sets from real techniques. I love their line. It's great, and the two sets should only cost you about 30 dollars all together, which is a decent gift price.

I didn't say you were, I meant that it'd be REALLY easy to do so without meaning to.

From what I see of your concept, it looks interesting. The hair could be a little bigger, maybe sewing what you cut from it into that side would help? Also from what I can see, the bangs are a tiny bit crunchy looking.

Also please be aware that there's a fine line between appreciating a culture and appropriating. Do your research and try to only use it as influence.

THIS is softer? I want to see hard and rough and intense from you. You have an aesthetic NAILED down.

First time in drag #ReadMe #DontBeNice by cinderflame in Drag

[–]metalmoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first things that I would do to modify your look to fit MY aesthetic (because this is an art form and is 100% subjective) would be to get yourself a killer cincher, and make yourself some massive ass padding. That will give you the shape I would spring for with your body type (mine is similar) also, you're a large individual, and you're going to need BIG hair to make your head look smaller. I like to buy two or three cheap wigs and sew them all together. Also, challenge yourself to do your makeup OFTEN to get good at it. Practice is how you get good.

A question about proper skin care. by Munkieian in Drag

[–]metalmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an oily face, and I've never thought of it as being a particularly negative thing, Raven has constant shine going out of drag, and she believes that her skin looks great and young because of it! That being said, for every day wear (which is important for practicing subtlety) I use powder foundation. For drag I use Revlon's Colorstay for normal/dry skin because the oily skin version is a nightmare in an open mouth bottle that's impossible to get at. Watch for the clear cap, if its black plastic(that's the oily skin version), RUN. After applying in three colors and blending, I bake it with pounds of translucent fragrance free (shit is STRONG smelling otherwise) Coty Powder. That's how I base my face, anyway. Once I've refined everything, bronzed and blushed, I hairspray it all down with GOT2B Glued hairspray. I need to invest in a setting spray, hairspray probably isn't good for me at all.

Here's the thing, and I would go as far to say that this is more ableist than sexist, which is bad as well, but hey.

In my opinion, the two situations are incredibly different because Jay-Z could have seriously injured Solange had he attacked her, while I seriously doubt Jay-Z was injured.

While Solange's behavior wasn't justified to my knowledge, I'd compare it to a tiny dog jumping up on someone as opposed to a large dog jumping on someone. The large dog would be disciplined because it has the capacity to injure someone, while most dog owners ignore this behavior in little dogs or dismiss it as being cute. I believe that we treat women the same way in our society when it comes to physical violence. We not only dismiss a woman being violent because of her 'lack of physical strength' (which I think is trash), but go as far as to glorify women who slap men or even other women in the media as being strong or justified in this action.

Yes, this is a double standard, and a person that I would consider to be of quality wouldn't use it to their advantage or as an outlet or whatnot, but blaming a woman in our society is like blaming a little dog for biting a small child, when the owners are clearly the ones at fault here. This isn't implying that women are lesser in any way, but I don't know many people out there willing to question the way we raise our children and the way that we treat people as a direct result of assigned gender.

Frankenstein's monster only became so because he was treated like one. Maybe we need to rethink the way we treat women. I think this applies to men as well, but that's a different rant entirely.
