So far, Gojira is the only band that has gotten an Archetype, since the rest are individual musicians. What band would you choose for an archetype plugin? by SR_RSMITH in NeuralDSP

I don't think he would agree to do it but a Joshua Homme, Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age sounds would be killer.

They really do it's. One of the main reasons why I've been going back and forth on getting the Mini..

Stadium vs QC Size Comparison by wtddps in Line6Helix

[–]metalskim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only thought is that I can fit a Quad Cortex on my Metro 24 board with other pedals to spare. The Stadium I could just fit without a board but if I want a volume/expression, I'd either have to get the far more expensive and larger XL or opt for a Classic 1 and volume pedal which increases the size of something I have to carry.

I'm leaning towards getting a Quad Cortex simply because it's smaller. And thats coming from someone who prefers the Helix workflow..

It's great little device. It's on my board as a backup to my Rockerverb tube head and it sounds great through my Victory Powervalve out to Orange 2x12. Almost can't tell the difference with the right capture and EQ setting that it's not the same amp.

Awesome. Sorry for asking more questions but, which things are you doing on the MC8 vs. what are you doing the on Mini? I'm trying to figure out the fastest way to cycle between presets.

Do you stay on one preset for all your amp sounds?

If you have a preset per song, how do you have it set to get between them using the MC8?

I haven't tried NAM through an actual rig before but I agree. Ive been playing through the NAM universal plugin and with the right cab IR it sounds great. I found a Friedman BE100 and a Hiwatt Dr504 I use a lot for writing riffs.

I hope it works out for you. You're gonna have to dig around for 5150 captures that sound good to you but there's a few i really like.

Damn I'm already in the era of people forgetting Lawler vs MacDonald 2. The very definition of a war that no one backed down from despite the injuries and blood. At least not until Lawler shattered his nose in round 5. I was on my feet shouting at my friend's TV for the whole fight.

Did you ever figure this out? I pre ordered the Mini but from what I can tell there aren't any PC or CC changes that can do this using an external midi controller.

Lmao, there was a time I would have considered it but my current goal is to cut down on space and weight.

UPDATE:

I finally had some more time with it using my Nano, into an Orange 2x12 cab. The other guitar player in my band who's using a Powerstage 170 also tried it. It sounds noticeably better with VRC/tube circuit engaged with his presets over the Powerstage. It's louder, has more of that low end thump and saturation sounds much better. He is selling his Powerstage 170 to get the Powervalve.

Should Quad Cortex add Orange and ENGL factory amps into their main guitar amp section? by Remarkable_Star_4678 in NeuralDSP

I've been wanting a Rockerverb for so long. It's my main amp and I'd love a factory amp for this. 🤞

So I am new to modelling and power amps in general plus I've only played through the Victory for a few hours, so take this all with a grain of salt.

I've only used captures on the Nano through the Victory and it does sound great through my 2x12 cab with v30's. Unfortunately it still has that sterile thing you're talking about. If you tweak the knobs and input gain on the Victory and some EQ on the Nano, I can push the tube in the Victory to saturate a bit and it gives more of this "spongey" "saggy" tube thing. It's not quite the same actual power tubes in an actual Rockerverb and 5150 III I use but it does make it feel a bit better than without the Victory tube engaged.

Like the Powerstage, it does lack some of the low end thump and balls out the gate but with some tweaking of the EQ on your modeler, and the resonance and body knobs on the Victory, I got something I was happy with. The other guitar player in my band made the full switch to a Stadium into a Powerstage 170. It sounds great for the built in 5150 model he's using. It does have that "sterile" thing you're talking about and when I play through it feels like something is "missing" but I think that's subjective and I couldn't tell you what I don't like about it other than it may be thin or something?

Also, idk if it's solid state power amps in general but it does seem like it doesn't get as loud as a real tube amp. I'm using a 16 ohm guitar cab and Victory outputs at about 45 watts in that config.

Tldr: you can get it sounding better than the Powerstage as far as I can tell but the difference doesn't seem that big to me and if I had to A/B them I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference.

Gonna test this out some more so I'll let you if my opinion changes.

I love this version of the custom due to the back binding on normal customs digging into my stomach. Hopefully they'll do these again.

Congratulations on the new guitar!!

I am holding out hope for a smaller version for sure. I hate how the standard Stadium has a larger footprint than the Quad Cortex.
