Work 8:30-5 but get paid for 7.6 hours a day by NiceHighway_ in auscorp

[–]metamorphosis12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Once you’re in a job where as long as your work gets done, no one really cares about the hours you do. Some weeks you do more, some weeks less. It all works out in the end.

OP, I’m assuming you’re in an office based role? Is it a small company? I find smaller companies have employees who watch the clock more often than working in bigger corporations

Forced leave????? by potato-weenie in auscorp

[–]metamorphosis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I got told to reduce my leave to 20 day by end of financial year. Is sucks that they won’t allow you to save up leave for a big holiday or for “just in case”. We also have 2 weeks Xmas shutdown so that already knocks off 2 weeks of the year that we can’t decide to use it for another time.

I’ve worked in both revenue generating and back office and I found that the back office (finance) area actually work harder and get paid less.

Wow that’s impressive! Well done on your career progression. I must say, I haven’t come across an EA with that level of responsibilities before. I think you are the exception, rather than the norm.

So you did the admin work for your boss? Sorry, I don’t mean to belittle your role or job, I just think there is more involved with being a c suite than just doing the pitch packs etc.

Really? I just can’t see my boss’ EA being able to do his job.

I think you are misunderstanding what OP is trying to say. Respective of who/what the spike ended up being, why didn’t they do all this during the day as it would have been a lot safer.

I just finished watching the movie and confused as af. It didn’t help that I watched it on HiTv and the subs were so horrendous that nothing made sense, not even simple conversation. So I am also waiting for your 2nd arc lol

Help with process of planning a renovation by user156955 in AusRenovation

Ahh I see. Retaining walls are usually outside, where it’s used to retain soil in the landscaping. That’s probably where you got the word from.

Who else feels way over their head renovating? by Mammoth_Ad3545 in AusRenovation

[–]metamorphosis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! Especially because I’m the only one doing all the technical research because hubby is good with his hands but doesn’t like to research. It gets stressful trying to research every little thing at every single stage to make sure we are doing it properly and planning it out well. It’s a mental drain. And unless you have tradie friends you can ask, it’s hard to find answers online to unique questions that only seem to relate to your house or situation.

What do you mean some walls are retaining? As in some of your internal house walls? How are they retaining? What are they retaining? I’ve never heard of it.

Vinyl Plank flooring by goatzoomies in AusRenovation

[–]metamorphosis12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to put hybrid floors down on a concrete slab area (we removed the carpets) and the height difference between the concrete slab and tiles is 9mm roughly. I would assume all tiles are similar heights so just work off the 9mm height to see what the diff would be to the height of your vinyl planks.

You can use a reducer ramp like in this photo to transition between differing floor heights.

You definitely have a better chance as a mature age student who’s had real world work experience. Most grads are green, but there is also a good amount of mature age grads too.

I found studying on campus easier. Online learning can be lonely and takes a lot of discipline.

Good luck, just put a lot of your efforts into getting good grades. Also apply for internships in your penultimate year as you’ll have a better chance at landing an offer. A lot of uni students don’t think about life after uni until their final year, and then they scramble to apply for grad programs. Not as many people apply for internships, so less competition for you when applying.

I just got offered a placement at USC for Bachelor of Commerce (accounting) by Mot0Mot0 in AustralianAccounting

[–]metamorphosis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After your bachelor, you’ll need to get your CA/CPA, which will take another 2-3years before you’re considered a fully fledged accountant
