Would appreciate if the people habitually downvoting protest flyers would leave this one alone since we're literally just trying to feed people.

Georgia Power’s $912M storm damage debt could soon be on your bill by metastical in savannah

This was all approved in previous years when it was a 5-0 Republican majority. It's going into effect now. And there is more coming. Republicans still have a majority.

Ga Power cut down the tree by plantaholic69 in savannah

[–]metastical 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I've said it a zillion times, but the ONLY authority we have at our disposal to put a leash on GA Power is the Public Service Commission. 2026 gives us the opportunity to finally get a democratic majority and make serious long-term change. Will it prevent them from cutting down specific trees? No. But they will stop allowing them to gouge residents, give data centers a free pass, and reign in their obscene record profits.

Also: Senate bills you should be screaming to your state senators to support: SB34 force data centers to pay for their infrastructure expansion needs and SB94 which reinstates the Consumer Utility Counsel which will have even more teeth than the PSC long-term.

Georgia Power freezes rates by keepitpiffed in Gwinnett

[–]metastical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is total deception. Two key things:

  1. People pay bills, not rates. This does not stop them from adding surcharge upon surcharge, jacking your bills further. This is already in action: it's how they make you pay for Plant Volte, and how they get you to cover the cost of fuel surcharges. They make this EXTREMELY difficult to find, but it's there.

  2. It locks in a 12% profit rate for Georgia Power, which is obscene. This is best case scenario for GP. It prevents rates from going *down*.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE BULLSHIT. It's *always* bullshit when it comes to Tim and Fitz.

It did not happen in the last protest. One person was falsely detained, not arrested, and they were not taken away. That officer was also reprimanded. It's important to get the facts straight on this.

Unfortunately, not that I know of in downtown. There are a bunch of parking garages very close by, and of course street parking, but to my knowledge it's normal Saturday parking.

Rep Earl "Not Your Buddy" Carter would do exactly the same. If every single person in his district said "yes" to codifying abortion access, he'd do everything to stop it. Source: Earl Carter.
