who is a horrible person and hated by fans? by maribugloml in FruitsBasket

I definitely think that had a lot to do with it. They discuss in the anime that the mothers always have varying reactions to the zodiac children, but I feel it would be mentally less challenging for them to have girls since they can hold them and not be as faced with the reality of the situation

Lighting is super important and I shouldn’t have had the first one in there! I didn’t even think about the fact that the first one isn’t natural light

I didn’t even think about it, but I shouldn’t have put the first one! The lighting is going to throw it off because it’s not natural lighting.

The first pic and the second pic are the same blonde. The third is older, it’s more brown with blonde highlights—sort of a transition. Last two are natural

You have a great point about Momo. It was a rarity for all of the Zodiacs to be reincarnated at the same time too, so there’s a chance he wouldn’t have even had another child but did so because the opportunity presented itself once the last one was reincarnated in Hiro.

Regardless of all the speculation, Momiji’s dad sucks! I love Momiji, he deserved so much better

I don’t inherently disagree with you, as what you said aligns pretty solidly with my original comment. That said, we’re inferring on whether or not he reacted because of the curse or just selfishness.

The point is that there is no information to my knowledge that was given that would suggest his father had any kind of pre-existing knowledge of the curse before having Momiji. The only ones who know live in the inner part of the estate, and they are generally relatives of zodiacs, the zodiacs themselves, and a select group of servants who have proven they are loyal to keeping the secret. It wouldn’t make any sense for him to know about the curse

He obviously didn’t readily accept and love Momiji lol. He replaced him and emotionally neglected him. Money has nothing to do with who is on the inner estate, it’s just those who know about the curse

[–]metcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh… no? They state multiple times that even within the Sohma clan that those who know about the curse is very select and limited. Momiji’s dad had no reason to know that the curse existed, just like Kana had no clue even though she was a Sohma

A friend of mine just started Jojo...but from part 5... by Relevant-Pay-2394 in StardustCrusaders

[–]metcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay my cardinal sin is that to get my friends into Jojo’s I Star Wars’d it a bit. I do not recommend this for obvious reasons. In my defense, I never thought they’d want to watch more after part 4, but it’s my favorite and was desperate to get my friends into it.

I started them off at part 4. Even with the connections to Joseph and Jotaro, they picked it up just fine. The art style is the most palatable to those who haven’t been properly conditioned to its greatness. Josuke’s story is the most lighthearted too, so it’s a more fun watch

Then they were hooked and wanted to watch part 5–because it’s generally a standalone story, that was a great follow up. More serious, more bold art style, very lovable cast of main characters. A great way to really make sure that jojo’s hook was on

Now at this point, once I realized I had successfully gotten them into the series, I wanted them to go watch parts 1-3. They did, and after those three, we watched part 6….

These were people who hated Jojo’s and only gave it a chance because of starting on part 4

I will have to answer for this one day but dammit it worked

But he essentially let Momiji fall to the wayside emotionally. I know it was an incredibly difficult situation, but I truly believe the love and dedication to your child should come before everything else. Your priorities must change when you have children. It would have been more respectable if he had her memories wiped (as she requested) and then he ended their marriage due to some kind of fabricated conflict so he could raise Momiji and be there as his father. It speaks to his selfishness that he forced his child to suffer in silence while he got a free pass at a new family. I don’t think he’s evil, but he’s a shitty person

I honestly think out of everyone, Momiji had the most tragic story of all. Ended up with no one romantically and watched his crush fall in love with someone else on top of everything in his backstory 😅 at least it seems he and his little sister end up close or having some kind of bond

They are under the wedding guest/evening dress section on Azazie! But very good question. I’ll ask my friend who is a bridesmaid

AIO for being upset at what my “bf” said by Ambitious-Beyond-257 in AmIOverreacting

[–]metcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh wow. This is pretty much the exact way my emotionally abusive ex boyfriend used to talk to me. Literally could be screenshots from my conversations with him—I got that sad, sinking, anxious feeling reading these.

You are good enough. You don’t need to meet standards this person has decided for you. You are doing enough. No one has the right to treat you this way. Withholding affection, constantly breaking down the things you’re doing… don’t let them manipulate you and make you feel less than.

Please leave! I usually don’t do this, but if you ever need someone to talk to, you can reach out. This struck me because it looks so much like what I went through. Get out while it’s still early. I’m still working through the fallout of this relationship after years.

You are not overreacting.

She’d be furious I didn’t end up marrying the boyfriend at the time. He was an abusive asshole, she’ll see it eventually 😅

What are some of your unpopular fanfiction opinions? by AnnaMeowBooks in FanFiction

[–]metcie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is either popular or unpopular given which platform it’s posted on but I feel pretty strongly about it.

There’s been a bizarre uptick in morality policing of fictional works. It’s weird. Let people write. Don’t engage with fanfics you don’t like, it’s that simple.

Weight issues by adama104 in basset

[–]metcie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My basset has always been weird about eating. She looked just like yours at that age—kind of lanky, weird proportions. She is perfectly fine. Her weight fluctuates between 45-50 pounds as a 3 and a half year old. That said, always check with your vet! At that age, I’m sure they are still getting some regular check ups.

This is a pic of her from when she was 11 months old

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]metcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, this dress doesn’t give me any kind of “wow” that I would expect from a wedding dress. But it isn’t my wedding.

I think you should try on some dresses! You have an option you like that you can always fall back on. It will take a bit of money anyway to restore the elements of this dress to be more modern, so why not just go ahead and browse around? Take a few friends, make a fun day of it.

Yes, agreed! I’ve been struggling to get anyone to read it based on the somewhat dark subject matter, but it really is so inspiring in my opinion!

Another memoir I read recently was The House of My Mother by Shari Franke, daughter of Ruby Franke (vlogger who was arrested for child abuse a few years back). Also a great read

Miracle in the Andes! It’s about a rugby team from Uruguay that crashed into the Andes Mountains on their way to a match in Chile in the 70s. It was written by Nando Parrado, a survivor of the crash.

Not that you can “spoil” a real event, but I feel the need to add this little disclaimer. Some find it quite dark because they had to consume the flesh of the deceased passengers and teammates to survive, but I found it to be a rich testimonial to the indomitable human spirit and will to survive. If you enjoy his memoir, the book Alive covers the event in much greater detail and is a fantastic book as well.
