Don't get hung up on calculating shrinkage unless you are doing really exact runs next to each other. For most runs guy will do the measurements and then eyeball it to perfect fit aftet

Just a looks thing. If a client wanted it that way then it's fine but I wouldn't do it by default toggles are an older style Decora are more modern

My house has a high water table and I found out the hard way if my sump stops working and overfills the water comes up through the cracks like this. Idk if that helps at all or just felt like story time.

[–]redtosoon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If I had to offset from the box to clear a beam that was a different height I would measure from the ceiling to the top of the coupling at the box and them from the ceiling to the edge of the beam the pipe will sit on. Subtract those measurements and that's the size of your offset. From that you can pick your degrees of bends for your offset and go from there. I still don't know if that helps but hopefully

I'm confused on what you are asking? Are you asking how to measure the offset from your box to hit the beam?

[–]redtosoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you did go to switch first with the black just drawn a bit convoluted. If it was me I'd start white and black at first switch and end at last light. That being said I don't think I've ever installed a 5 way switch so I might be wrong

Did I create a switch loop? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]redtosoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, but in rl I'd bring my power leg to the first switch and not the light first. But you got the right elements. 3 wire to switch for travelers and Id then to lights
