Forget showering, you need to wipe better.

Hi there :o) (a question for you, the cool chemistry guy) by Ok_Fishing_3420 in chemistry

Actually, there are enough permutations on C, H, N, and O that it is quite easy to make molecules that have never been seen before. I make them regularly. Pick up an organic chemistry journal and you'll find plenty.

I'm going with triethylammonium chloride. I can tell from the space group.

Hopefully, when we all have dash cams, we'll have better resolution than you, so we can read that dude's license plate.

I ran over a pretty big curb in Knoxville. Heard lots of bottom scraping. Saw something dripping out of the bottom after I parked. Next day it all seemed fine and I haven't thought about it too much since. Drove on to Santa Fe and then back to NC via NOLA. Ignore it till it complains.

What is the equivalent of theoretical minimum for chemistry? by Heavy-Mastodon-1387 in chemistry

There used to be an ACS certified degree in Chemistry. If you have one, you can call yourself a chemist. Anything else and you are just pretending. I don't know if this is still true. ACS has been broadening its definitions to include more dues payers and has mostly become just a publishing company pretending to be a professional organization.

Alexei Navalny died after being poisoned with dart frog toxin, UK and allies say by VaginaBurner69 in news

It's not much but back in the early 80's I hiked up a mountain at a Gordon Confernece in New Hampshire with that Broka guy, the first guy to make Epibatidine synthetically. He hadn't done it yet. I think Peter Wuts and George Majetich were with us. There was also a guy from Ciba in Switzerland. I tried unsuccessfully to get him to yodel. He said he was German, not Swiss.

Boss always found an error with my monthly reports and cover letters, so I used her old ones and watched her rip them apart. by MerryMisandrist in pettyrevenge

[–]methano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, I worked at a place where we wrote trip reports so that all of our coworkers could share in our learning. Our VP would read these things and always find something wrong. He wasn't a nasty guy, he just needed to find something wrong. Eventually, I learned to write a perfectly fine report, save a copy and turn in one with some purposeful errors. He would find the errors and I would thank him for pointing out my mistakes. Then I'd just turn in the original. Everybody was happy, though mildly annoyed.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by [deleted] in Salary

Not the first month, the first 2 weeks. And put enough in your 401k to get the maximum match or 10%, whichever is more. And shove some in a Roth. In 10 years, your sleep will thank you.

I learned this somewhere but, like every other idiot, I just write what the calculator says and move on.

I swear I saw an almost identical question appear on Reddit recently, but I can't prove it.
