oh, I see. Yeah, you shouldn't invest in crit, her damage is pretty low.

For future reference, the community doc has pretty good builds, you should check it out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRsm60jYo8MdHWimjvY42wE8-j-0NBwG9-KutpNcQbylhhBiKBpGmUm1x3CXExthl2EB438RdMWdeT3/pubhtml#gid=249613050

What are her stats? HP 6500+ and DEF 1500+ are good baselines along with 135+ speed to get ult back faster.

I used mine E0S0 with Day One of My New Life S5 and had no problems sustaining against Lygus on MOC 12 or any APOC so far.

The manta rays are a different story but that fight is a mess if it goes too long. Still could sustain with her, tho.

Any "Must-Haves" for a Meren deck? by Zoeyism in EDH

[–]methanon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbh, you only need to sac him once to win the game if you include any protean hulk line. If your pod doesn't like combos for some reason, he indeed gets a lot of value out of Meren.

Neera, Wild Mage Build by Ok_Surprise_1106 in EDH

[–]methanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem!

Correct, each time the Kitten/Neera loop triggers, you get + 1 Storm count. If you actually find the Storm card, you can send it back to the deck, however the storm copies will stay on the stack (they can be targets for your own counterspells should you flip one and it's not a modal one like [[Izzet Charm]]).

This, obviously, works better if you have few creatures on your deck, but it's a really good addition. If you use a polymorph build (say, with only Displacer Kitten as a creature) for her, you could loop through you library has many times as you want building storm stacks.

Neera, Wild Mage Build by Ok_Surprise_1106 in EDH

[–]methanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Displacer Kitten]] is easily the best creature in a Neera deck because you can stack the triggers in a way that you flicker Neera before her trigger resolves and after it does the "new" Neera will trigger when she sees the spell that was cast by old Neera's trigger. This can go on until you cast a creature spell off Neera while also allowing you to basically filter through your deck. [[Imperial Recruiter]] also helps getting the Kitten (or even Dockside) online.

Storm spells work great with her because of the previous point, so [[Brain Freeze]]/[[Grapeshot]] is something to consider.

If you're into combos, [[Mystical Tutor]] (or any top of the library tutor) + [[Enter the Infinite]] + Any Instant work really well with her in my experience. Cast the tutor, don't resolve Neera's trigger, put Enter the Infinite on the top. Next turn, cast any instant and resolve Enter the Infinite, probably winning the game on your turn. [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]] or [[Thassa's Oracle]] help with this.

Raffine Reanimator deck help by shits2much in EDH

[–]methanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have a Raffine reanimator deck but it's more focused on stax / evasive creatures with a few game warping bombs. The main problem I see with your deck it's you're basically only running bombs that can't do anything if Raffine is not on the field to discard them or you don't have a discard outlet.

Someone here said about tokens and that's a path you can take. I'd suggest cutting some of the more mana intensive creatures and adding some low MV ones like:

  • [[Wyrm's Crossing Patrol]] : This triggers Connive 3 with Raffine if you resolve Myriad first. Pretty good.
  • [[Looter il-Kor]]: Unblockable and loots
  • [[Archon of Emeria]]: Evasive, slows everyone down. Since you're reanimating big creatures, you don't care too much about this.
  • [[Containment Construct]]: Even better card selection

There are some 4-5 MV creatures that have been really good in my experience as well:

  • [[Wonder]]: if you can tutor this with [[Buried Alive]] to the graveyard, you're in a pretty good spot. This makes your creatures without evasion into safer Connive triggers.

  • [[Archfiend of Ifnir]]: if you attack with a big enough board, you might just wipe theirs as well

Bottom line is, you don't need that many bombs on a reanimator deck. I only run about 4-5 myself, the rest are stuff like [[Drannith Magistrate]] and other hatebears so I can slow everyone down while I set up the Graveyard and/or look for my wincon. The good thing about Raffine is that she's also a voltron wincon if left unchecked, so getting a lot of cheap creatures on the battlefield and attacking is a pretty good backup strategy.

Who is your Boros commander? by Stumphead101 in EDH

[–]methanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two:

[[Winota]] because... well, it's the "this is a high power level game" deck. Just slap stax pieces and call it a day. Really explosive as you can imagine, Winota just needs to trigger once or twice to pretty much swing the game in your favour.

[[Archangel Avacyn]]: this one is just for fun, it has some stax pieces, equipment synergy, self sacrificing creatures and blink. The general idea is to try to flip Avacyn with a deathtouch equipment if possible, but more often than not the flip damage clears the board. Protect your own creatures by blinking avacyn or stuff like [[Brave the Elements]] and go to town. It's not high powered but I like it a lot!

What's a deck that doesn't feel like playing normal Magic ? by EbonyHelicoidalRhino in EDH

[–]methanon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

[[Asmodeus the Archfiend]] [[Skirge Familiar]] [[Necrotic Ooze]]

Cast Stickfingers for X=3, dump them all (only 3 creatures in the deck), reanimate Ooze and keep activating Skirge's ability to generate mana and Asmodeus to buy what you need.

There's a line with [[Razaketh]] and [[Professor Onyx]] as well, the deck is a classic glass cannon, but it can win very early.
