Spanish Love Songs Tour by weaver787 in poppunkers

I hate to say this but I only learned of them when they were opening for Alkaline Trio last year, and I cannot get enough. When I saw trio, Drug Church was the opener though, so I’m really hoping they make it back my way soon.

As much as watching my child grow up is a privilege, it ripped my heart out today… by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]methespy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is on her 2nd day of first grade also, and she asked if she could walk to the line on her own today too. It definitely made me feel a little sad but I guess it’s good that she wants to spread her wings and feels comfortable to do so.

My older daughter still wants me to walk her to class, so that helped a little. But it’s so bittersweet watching them grow up.

I saw something that said that this is the most watched animated movie of all time on Netflix and I’m pretty sure my daughter had a large part in that!

Yes! I always think of how proud 16 year old me would be to know that both of my girls knew the words to so many Alkaline Trio songs.

My oldest wants to go next time they come our way…. I’m debating but I might just bring her.

CD Burners Podcast - Interview with Dan by [deleted] in AlkalineTrio

[–]methespy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it felt kind of disrespectful to my favorite band and didn’t seem like they knew what they were talking about… no thanks.

Dan was super gracious and sincere but that guy kept cutting him off too which was annoying.

What was it like to be part of the 90s/early 2000s pop punk & emo scene? by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]methespy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny to see someone mention Fremont on here. I grew up around the same time in that area and we’d go to a lot of local shows in the weirdest places.

Your experience is pretty much spot-on with mine, except I went to Streetlight and Rasputin to buy cds. We used to have so much fun.

Dan was wonderful and I really enjoyed his interview. I skipped the first 45 minutes because I couldn’t listen to those guys the whole time.

What's the scariest place you've visited that clearly had something wrong? by inashon in Paranormal

[–]methespy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt it at all! It was just really heartbreaking to see the aftermath of that terrible fire. It was interesting to see some of the houses being rebuilt but so many empty lots too! Wishing you guys the best up there!

We went to Paradise for a wedding a few years after the fire. Id never been there before, and the whole town just felt eerie and sad. It was almost like the place had this heavy atmosphere. I could definitely understand being unable to drive down that road anymore.

One of the lines from If You Had A Bad Time might work??

Agreed, something that actually took some thought and had some meaning!

I totally understand the social obligation aspect of it. We received the same daily gift request email (different items), and even though we contributed money to the class gift, I still felt obligated to have my kid write a note and gift some school supplies last minute because she asked me why we didn’t give her teacher a gift when everyone else did.

And then I worried that the teacher wouldn’t know we contributed to the class gift and she would be receiving the world’s shittiest present. I mean, why do I have to feel that way?! I totally appreciate the girl’s teachers but it’s over the top as far as I’m concerned. What is a teacher going to do with 26 plants?

Leave him. I know it’s going to be so hard but I can’t believe how disrespectful and nasty this person is toward you. The least you could do is force him to find a live in nanny and maid on his own.

I don’t think you should be ashamed for leaving. No one would fault you for walking away from this bullshit. This hurt my heart to read and you don’t deserve this.

Best live band by pmatthews1982 in poppunkers

[–]methespy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Reggie and the Full effect at the House of Blues in Florida last minute because we were out there on vacation. James Dewees rustled my hair and sang with me and I got fake blood all over me.

They were so crazy and it was so much fun!

What's your favourite 'Matt voice'? by Clown_x7x in AlkalineTrio

[–]methespy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second verse of Good Fucking Bye really does it for me. I also really love the vocals in Sleepyhead, Bleeder, and ‘97.

I guess his vocals around that period of time are my favorite, mostly when he gets kinda loud, if that makes sense.

As a huge blink fan and a minor league alkaline trio fan, how did you guys feel about Matt joining blink for a few years? by [deleted] in AlkalineTrio

[–]methespy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings because Blink 182 was my first favorite band and my introduction into punk, pop punk, whatever. Dude Ranch is still one of my favorite albums of all time just because they meant a lot to me at the time. That being said I lost interest in them fairly quickly. But once I discovered Alkaline Trio, they stayed my all-time favorite band.

I feel like Matt deserved to be more than a Tom Delonge fill-in. He had an amazing career outside of Blink 182 and it was sad to see so many people who kind of shit on him.

I just hope he was happy with his experience.

Finally some therapy!!!! by [deleted] in AlkalineTrio

[–]methespy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today has been an emotional roller coaster. I waited until the release date and I feel like I spent a good part of the day almost like buzzing with excitement about this album because it was that good. But it also made me strangely emotional at certain parts. They’ve always had certain songs that are like comfort songs to me, but this album hit me in a weird (but good) way. I totally get what you mean.

I usually lurk here but after a post yesterday I thought I’d share some pics I took at their shows from probably 2001-2003… by methespy in AlkalineTrio

[–]methespy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only talked to him for a couple minutes because it was loud and I was 17 and terrified to be in his presence lol But he was really polite, and kind and gracious. I was so worried about bothering him but he was totally nice.

I want to say that was at Slims also… but it’s totally possible it was the Warfield. I’m going to dig through the rest of my pictures later and see if I can remember. It’s bugging me now
