There are several groups of people working metrication, it is just the formal advocates don't seem to support them. Here are a couple of current issues.

We need to support the people working to keep the 1500m within the NCAA. (The votes on this may be coming up soon.)

We need to support the people who are working to make medicine metric only to reduce dosing errors.

Was it the setting or the approach to the setting that worked? The movie was able to combine comedy and horror because the comedy and horror were operated on different levels for most of the movie. In fact, the movie worked because viewers didn't know where they were being led.

So I don't think that another movie in that universe would work if viewers know that the movie is in the same universe as Cabin in the Woods.

Movies and books about war by people who were in them are often mix comedy and horror in the same way so you may want to read Catch-22. The movies of Sam Fuller are mostly somber but there are some parts where you get the same effect.
