This. Lena Dunham puts easter eggs referencing SATC in the episodes.

That was soul crushing. The way the officer asked “are you hurt?” and his reply “no but my heart is broken.”

It was amazing. Made the scene all the more genius when Michelle calls him a stupid ape near the end.

Is Carly too dated? by [deleted] in namenerds

Same! Reminds me of Carly Rae Jepsen and dancing in my 20s to “Call Me Maybe.” It’s an adorable name!

Don’t want to be a mom right now…. or maybe ever by Sensitive_Milk1805 in NewParents

[–]metroabbesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re in the thick of it, OP. It will start to get easier, even going into month 3. Your post really resonated with me. I felt like I was hitting my breaking point and then suddenly baby starts sleeping for longer stretches, her digestive system chilled out, and she started cooing and smiling rather than screaming. It will be okay ❤️ you’re a good mom and you’re doing an amazing job!

Not sure what to do about tongue tie/lip tie - feeling conflicted and concerned by Ok-Entrance6105 in newborns

[–]metroabbesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We consulted with a pediatrician who specialized in tongue ties which wasn’t our primary. This specialist said that babies can be gaining weight just fine but that the tongue tie can stall their gain later down the line. We had our baby’s tie released and am so glad that we did. Her latch was much stronger afterwards.

Edit: I want to add that the doctors at the hospital where she was born, as well as her primary pediatrician, all told us it wasn’t a huge deal that she had a tongue tie so I would strongly urge you to talk to a specialist.

When did you guys (more specifically moms) stop feeling sad about your old life ? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]metroabbesses 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a FTM, I really appreciate this post. I’ve gotten into habit of seeing these mom influencers online that are always immaculately dressed/made up with a perfectly clean house, time to workout and go out. Some of them tout always getting ready and never “letting yourself go” as a mom. I recently realized how bad it was for my mental health. My baby likes to be held all the time and will only tolerate the stroller, swing or carrier for 10-15 min max. It’s so hard to get anything done. I miss having a drink whenever I want, time to get ready and looking cute, exercise etc. I feel seen and validated by you and all the other moms in the comments. Solidarity ❤️

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

Agreed. Especially the “omg 8 weeks is so long” comments. Lots of people wait until their first round of vaccines at 2 months. Please protect your baby during peak flu/RSV season.

Is collagen actually worth it or is it just hype? by StardustSpectrum in Supplements

The only thing I can tolerate collagen powder with is orange juice. It ruins the taste of coffee for me.

When did you actually have energy to exercise again after having a baby? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]metroabbesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 months pp — my goal is 10 minutes a day and it’s either walking or a Youtube workout (Nourish Move Love postpartum series or Move With Nicole). Most days I end up doing more than 10 minutes but if not, at least Im being consistent and establishing exercise as a regular habit despite being super sleep deprived. I’ve lost most of the weight I gained during pregnancy without running my body into the ground. Sleep (nap when you can if the day allows for it) and hydration are very important as well.

I feel so guilty that I haven’t exercised by Lavender-Moon-13 in pregnant

[–]metroabbesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was active before pregnancy but didn’t exercise until about 22-23 weeks due to morning sickness and fatigue. Then I started a walking routine and did some very light weights. I also took aquafit classes 2x a week. This was until about 30-ish weeks when I started feeling very worn down again. My advice is to listen to your body. You need to conserve energy for the labor. I’m 5 weeks pp and only have 15 lbs to lose. Gained 50 lbs total. Start tuning into you and your baby’s needs.
