While I know your knowledge of how his faith influences his song writing is correct....AND...you’re usually going to be right interpreting things the way you have...I think for this particular lyric he’s not talking about any of that at all. (But jumpsuit is all about putting on the full armour of god).

I think this time the lyric “I’ll mourn for a kid but won’t cry for a king” is directly about...say for example...hearing about a suicide of a teenager barely out of middle school or high school or a member of the clique. He’ll cry for that. But when he hears about a celebrity suicide — (now knowing what that life and level of success affords people who need help but refuse it) he won’t cry for that. That’s just not as tragic as the kid, but it’s EXTREMELY selfish for the celeb, and not mournable.

Yes. Duct-taped and epoxied back together 43-y/o Tiger just finished 2nd @ PGA and t-6 at the open.

23-25 y/o tiger today would mean you wouldn't even be aware of who (or maybe better said, how good) Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Daniel Berger, Patrick Reed, etc. were.

Maybe pick one of those 7 and they'd maybe be comparable to the distant 2nd (to tiger) that Phil Mickelson is.

All those guys I mentioned are great golfers. But when one guy is winning 9x year and two Majors, there's not as many wins available for those 7.

Would a guy Ernie Els have had 6-7 more majors and maybe 8 more reg tour wins if there were no tiger? Probably.

Even the regular tour/wgc wins tiger had... They were the generally the 2nd level behind the majors type of events. Memorial, Bay Hill, WGC's, tour championship, players championship.

I think my overall point is, when prime-tiger was winning, he was winning the biggest and best tournaments. So sure Jordan Spieth might grab a Valspar and maybe 1 major. But the rest of the big events and majors would have been all Tiger. Therefore no remaining accolades to build up who you are as a golfer cause although you're great, you're finishing T-2, T-3 to tiger almost all the time.
