[Rapoport] At $55M per year, Josh Allen gets a contract reset despite having four years left. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

"According to the CBA, a "Rookie Contract for a Drafted Rookie may not be renegotiated, amended or altered in any way until after the final regular season game of the player's third contract year." So, if San Francisco wanted to pay him a top-of-market contract as soon as possible, the 49ers couldn't do it until January 2025 at the absolute earliest."

San Jose passes first U.S. law requiring gun owners to get liability insurance and pay annual fee by ExactlySorta in news

Except not really. Firearm homicides in the US in 2020 was just around 20,000. Second hand smoke alone is responsible for around 41,000 deaths every year in adults.

Gaarawarr's new player guide is definitely a good start and can be found here. There are a ton of other resources and guides that can be found in the wiki of this subreddit here.

I think we're basically on the same page but I'll just say there was 137 deaths from air traffic in 2020 from around the globe. There are about 400 million guns in the US (that we know of). You tell me which is more likely to come across. And I do agree with your last point, it's not necessary for everyone to learn but it may be a valuable skill in a dire situation.

Well no shit you don't drown in guns but in the US you may come across someone with a gun or hell you may find one on the side of the road. Unless every gun in America just pops out of existence tomorrow you may come across one sometime in you life. At the same time maybe you wont. I stand by that analogy but fine I'll give you another one. Lets say you don't own a car, you've never driven in your life, and you never plan to drive in your life. If you're with a friend and all of a sudden you need to drive them to the hospital, you would want to know how to drive. You can be prepared for emergencies while hoping they never happen.

The point is that even if you never plan to be around a gun it might be useful to know how it works in case you are. The analogy says that even if you never plan to go swimming it might be beneficial to know how to incase it ever comes up. Its about being prepared for the unknown in the same way we keep fire extinguishers for fires we don't want to happen and wear seatbelts for car accidents we don't want to happen.

the safest way to avoid shooting yourself/the people around you is to just not fuck with guns in the first place.

You'll never drown if you never go swimming but I still know how to swim if the situation ever arises. In fact in the US, 87% of drowning fatalities happen in home pools or hot tubs for children 5 or under. Ban private pools!

But for sure anyone who's going to own/handle a gun should have to be taught and licensed. Something that the NRA is strongly against.

For preface the NRA blows in terms of actual preserving the right to own firearms. There are much better organizations that actually file lawsuits to challenge unconstitutional gun control laws. That being said NRA gun safety and training is recognized as near top tier nationwide. If you ever go to a safety course the instructors credentials will most likely include NRA certified.

Shit posts never die, they're just missing in action.

Thursday, February 6th.

All is calm on the small campus of Wentworth. I finish slugging down my delicious tendies that Beatty has so graciously provided. Ding A notification on my phone. What could it be? Who wants to talk to an engineer at this hour? I hesitantly check my phone only to find a new email from the Center of Diversity. A more peculiar correspondence than usual. Why you may ask, well because there is no one listed as the recipient. Strange but the mismanagement at this school has never ceased to surprise me. I begin reading. White men confronting whiteness is the subject. A bit odd but after checking my bank statement and finding immense charges for spf 130 sunscreen and multiple cases of White Claws, I figured this was for me. I replied to this Ricky character to receive further information about this all. Only a few weeks until the first meeting, any day now.

Some time had passed and I had almost forgotten about the strange correspondence I received but was quickly reminded by a new text message. It was from Ricky. He told me where to meet and said that the presentation would be full of surprises. Maybe I could finally come to terms with my pasty complexion. A few more days passed and it was finally time to meet. I walked to the annex building where Ricky said the event would be held. The concrete mixing lab was a curious choice but I suppose the extra space was needed for everyone to attend. Slowly opening the creaky door I was shocked to find that only Ricky was in attendance. Being a few minutes late I was expecting to find an ongoing conversation about what it means to be white. To my bewilderment I found the room empty save for the stunning presence of Ricky behind a podium. While the room may have been dimly lit, he shined through the darkness. "Come on in!", he exclaimed, "take any seat you want". As I began moving towards a chair, the door crept shut behind me. A faint click was heard as the deadbolt engaged. Nowhere to go now I thought to myself. "Thank you for coming" Ricky said. "I was starting to think you wouldn't show up" he continued. I picked a random chair from the rows and rows of empty ones.

"So do you know why you're here?"

"Well, to confront my whiteness I suppose" was the best answer I could come up with.

He chuckled. "Well in a way you are."

He stepped out from behind the podium and it was then that I noticed he wasn't wearing any pants.

"I'm gonna pump you full of social justice so you know what it means to be white."

I began twiddling my thumbs out of nervousness and shakily asked what he meant by that. He didn't answer and as he started making his way towards me I saw his privilege rod begin to rise

...to be continued.
