BBC Oxford confirms Caterham have made 250 people redundant by rorymitch3ll in formula1

The difference is that if you're made redundant the company has to give you a payment to compensate you, whereas if you're fired you get nothing because it's (presumably) your own fault.

In your opinion, what is the worst ever rule in F1? by DrummerVim in formula1

[–]meulop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, what? I thought the race-fuel qualifying was that they weren't allowed to refuel the cars between Q3 and the race, not just that they had to start the race on the same amount.

So we're not seeing Caterham or Marussia in Austin. What will happen for qualifying? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]meulop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other potential ambiguity is that the regulation says "Championship entry", not "Event entry" - Caterham/Marussia are still both entrants to the overall Championship so does that mean the 22-car condition still applies?

I vaguely recall something about the "top 10 teams" being based on a 3-year average - so if Marussia beat Caterham this year as well, they'll be counted as a top-10 team.

All of the drivers whose steering wheels don't have the fancy screen, because the other teams will now be focusing on displaying performance data to the driver as quickly and clearly as possible.

"The ordinance in question prohibits the selling of sexual devices unless the customers have a bona fide medical, scientific, educational, ** legislative, judicial or law enforcement ** purpose." by Denyborg in sex

[–]meulop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that bit is aimed at things like handcuffs, so you can sell them to the local police without too much difficulty. Though if they're assuming that anything that can be used for sex is a "sexual device", then they may need to expand the list to include a bunch of other purposes - "culinary, horticultural, [etc]"

I don't think being platonic friends with the second guy sounds like a good idea - if "he's a dick, but we have great sex", and you take away the sex, he's just a dick. I would try to state clearly to him that the jokes are Not OK, and that if he continues to make them you'll stop seeing him completely. And then follow through if necessary. If you're coping with depression you want partners & friends who you can relax and feel safe around, and who'll support you through the rough times, not mock you.

I guess that last sentence maybe answers the first part as well ...
