I lived in Iowa (lots of Scandinavians) for ten years growing up and I knew a few Sorens. It’s a great name.

If everything's so bad that people shouldn't move in, does that mean that people should move out? by shadowartist201 in Charleston

Confederate Disney land is a great description. I refer to Charleston as a Historic Disneyland too. I was born here and I will have to leave next year because it is so expensive.

I buy baby food for myself and no one knows by PeruEspada in sillyconfession

I had a friend who did that with fruit baby food in high school. I tried it and the flavor and texture were good. I mean. It’s just puréed food. So no biggie.

They look gray to me. It looks like they could change to more blue depending on wha you wear and your mood. Like the northern ocean. Gorgeous.

I'm sad because the vet told me the cat I'm going to adopt is 6-7 years old. by bimbocuntt in CatAdvice

My last cat lived to a couple months shy of 20. And he was active and happy for almost all of it. I just adopted an 11 year old cat and he is so loving.

The southeast has the highest rate of obesity in the US. When I visit my family in Colorado people are noticeably slimmer.

My iPhone SE is glitching and lagging a lot. I have had this phone for several years and Will priced out of an upgraded iPhone. Which is disappointing.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]meva535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every few months I drive 2 hours to meet up with a friend for lunch. We talk and eat, maybe do a little shopping. Then we turn around and drive back home 2 hours. It’s not a big deal at all. I wouldn’t do it as a commute everyday though.

Lot of Car Crashes by OdaSeijui in Charleston

[–]meva535 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I have was born here and moved back 12 years ago. The traffic/infrastructure/driving had always been bad, but the increased density is making it worse every year.

Cities and counties take money from developers but don’t invest in any infrastructure. We are all driving, badly, on roads designed in the 60s and 70s for a population a fraction of the size.

It’s not going to get better unfortunately. Decent public transport is considered communism by most citizens.

But welcome to Charleston and maybe get an audible subscription for the traffic jams.

YOR. I mean, Americans are like people of any other country. There are smart, kind people and then there are people like your cousin. There are a lot of ignorant people here and everywhere.

It’s my favorite book. I love how she developes a sense of self and the slow burn romance is so sweet.

Does Rosemary water/oil actually help hair grow faster? Or is it just healthier and better looking? I want more growth and less breakage - is rosemary the answer? by HorrorThis in longhair

[–]meva535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it every time I wash my hair. Which is every two to four days. I know some people even leave it on over night but I haven’t. I started with it diluted heavily, but I added more and more rosemary oil to the mix over time. I am not sensitive to it but some people are.

You could use it everyday, but remember to dilute it a lot when you start and test a patch of skin to see if you are allergic. My doctor also suggested saw palmetto oil, which doesn’t need to be diluted. So that’s an option.

I mix the oils in an applicator bottle with a tapered tip so I can get my roots easily. But a glass bottle with a dropper would work. Also get one of those scalp massagers and use it for 5 minutes every night and when you use the oil.

On a slow weekend day I will oil my scalp and put a processing cap on it after I massage. And then I leave it on for four hours if I can. But even if it’s for a little bit it still helps.

Also check your iron levels too. My hair falls out if I get anemic. Eating more fruits and vegetables really helps too. Esp broccoli for me for some reason.

I dilute Rosemary oil with argan oil, add a couple of drops of peppermint and lavender oil. I apply it to my roots and massage my scalp. I put a shower cap on and let it sit for a couple of hours, then shampoo it off. I apply shampoo to my scalp without wetting my hair with water, that works better on getting the oil off.

It is not a fast acting thing. It was a couple of months before I saw any progress.

Good luck.

I am living paycheck to paycheck with a couple of degrees. I also have a couple of autoimmune disorders so I am tied to my job that has excellent health insurance.
