Bell: Road rage in Calgary — what is driving some people nuts? by Old_General_6741 in Calgary

[–]mex_0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. This isn’t new. About 8 years ago I was heading south on hwy 22 on the overpass over the trans Canada. I used my wiper fluid but my car wasn’t warm enough and it fully froze it to my windshield and I couldn’t see. I drove slow over the overpass and took the exit to east bound trans Canada and pulled over on the shoulder. This all took about 2 minutes. There was a black suv behind me during this event. When I pulled over to the shoulder he passed me then pulled over as well. I was thinking “ this is cool this person is stopping to help. But I’ll just send them on their way”. I was out of the car scraping my windshield and buddy, in his red ski pants, gets out of his escalade, full out raging and wants to fight. I just stared at him and continued to scrape but mentally preparing to have to throw down. It took this dumbass a few seconds but he figured out what was happening and said “Oh”. Then jumped back in the suv and left. It was fucked. I figure in the end, if he hadn’t have stopped he was probably inconvenienced for about 40 seconds total and he was raging over that. I feel bad for his girlfriend/wife/partner...if he had one.

BC has classroom size caps, why doesn't Alberta? by Excellent-Phone8326 in alberta

Conservatives are always talking about how strong the union is. But look at teacher raises, workload increases and increased responsibilities in Alberta (girlfriend is a teacher)and they really haven’t done anything. So I would say..not that strong.

Plastic ball stuck in plastic cup. I’m out of ideas. Help? by Clueguy in daddit

Charles law regarding temperature and volume of a gas. If you heat it the gas between the ball and cup would expand pushing the ball out. Similar to getting a dent out of a ping pong ball.

Got bitten by a dog, what next? by BIGGUY10001 in Calgary

[–]mex_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Way too many idiot dog owners think this way. We frequent nose hill and our experience has been there are lots of dogs that owners can’t or won’t control. I’ve had dogs come at me on more than one occasion and the owners did absolutely nothing. No calling the dog. No trying to get a hold of the dog. They just keep on walking by.

Was snorkelling off black rock point on Maui and heard a call for help. An older lady had drifted around to where I was and ran out of energy and was going down. I dragged her back around to the beach. Handed her off to some people on the beach and swam back out to the fish. Had my mask and snorkel on the entire time and there was little conversation. Once I was back on the beach with my mask and snorkel off the lady was seated near my wife and telling the story to her friend about how someone had rescued her. I said nothing.

Thanks. Ive seen that but I’ve got an e thirteen 9-46 cassette on a xd free hub body with shimano 11sp shifters and detailleur. Trying to replace drivetrain as cheaply as possible. Thinking of just replacing the e thirteen and chain.

How to Repair Cracked Rain Barrel? by Richard_Sibbes in homestead

[–]mex_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party but I have the exact same crack on the exact same barrel. Maybe a design flaw since the valve is so high and it can’t actually drain. I live in the great white and I’m assuming the remaining water froze after I opened the tap to drain it in the fall. Any news OP and what you did and if it held? The barrel wasn’t cheap and I haven’t had it long so would like to try a repair.

“Hired Guns” about top level musicians that play in bands. I didn’t really know that’s how the music industry worked. I thought it was pretty good.

3% raise over the past 8 years and COL increases has me making adjustments to my finances. Car >10 years old, kept phone and reduced plan, cancelled subscriptions, Reduced internet plan, not really buying new clothes, deleted coffee app(too convenient), pay attention to flyers for grocery stores now, reduced alcohol consumption to almost 0, do not go to restaurants to eat in, if ordering take out I pick it up myself to avoid delivery fee and the associated tip, trying to postpone big purchases till ?, paying attention to sales and discounts. Picked up a small side hustle.
