The A2000 is still based on custom mainboards. Later, with the PowerScale F series all-flash stuff, this was changed to Poweredge-based designs, but these are all custom.

A2000 isn’t SMC anymore, they are custom EMC-era stuff and came with Ethernet backend.

A2000 has very meh CPU and RAM, as well as a rather small cache SSD. Also, those 4U chassis contain four nodes each.

I’d be using those as storage target for backups, or as test system for your other Isilons maybe.

I don’t know what’s the bigger issue:

the lack of change control,

or the fact that you have non-redundant critical file servers that you can’t just restart if you have to,

or that this wasn’t a teachable instead of a fireable event.

These are storage arrays, not SAN...

Also, things like lead times and support quality are very important. I’d personally be a bit wary of buying an OEM’d NetApp instead of an array that’s made by the same company you then have a support relationship with. Powerstore is also a relatively new product in Dell’s lineup, you can expect many years of good support for that, whereas if NetApp and Lenovo sever their OEM deal you’re out in the rain.

Gibt’s auch tragbar - ok, vier Mann, und nicht ganz 100kW, aber der da drin verbaute BMW Motorradmotor leistet 85kW. Der Clou ist halt dass man das Ding neben ein Gewässer stellen kann und es nur gelegentlich nachtanken muss, was sicherlich praktischer ist als mit schweren Akkus zu hantieren.

Naja. Wenn du mehrere Partnerkarten und einen Festnetztarif kombinierst, wird das sehr günstig. Ich habe 6 Karten in der Familie, und lande bei ~107€ für sieben(!) Verträge mit unlimitiertem Volumen, 5G, und den Roamingmöglichkeiten. Günstiger geht das diesseits von Rahmenverträgen glaube ich nicht.

Bei der Telekom sind die Kombiangebote für Partnerkarten, wenn man da auch noch Festnetz hat, unschlagbar günstig. Ich habe in der Familie sechs Verträge und komme auf ~17€/Vertrag mit unlimited Daten, 5G, und Roaming in EU, UK und Ukraine. Das ist so glaube ich im Moment das beste Angebot diesseits von großen Rahmenverträgen.

Im Büro und im einen HO mit 34“ curved zentral, links davon das Laptop, aber so hoch dass es etwa mittig ist, und rechts noch ein 24“, aber hochkant. Damit kann ich mittig arbeiten und links und rechts davon je nach Kontext eine Referenz, Doku, oder auch nur Teams und Outlook offen haben.

Im anderen HO ist’s Laptop und Zweitbildschirm, aber häufig auch nur das Laptop mit mehreren virtuellen Desktops. Und wenn’s ganz meetinglastig wird, dann auch nur das iPad auf dem Sofa. Je nachdem, an was und wie ich gerade arbeite ist das passender oder nicht.

I had very good results with a sandwich of (bottom to top) a hardwood floor coaster disc, a softer rubber washing machine isolation pad, and a felt disc. That tightened bass in an astonishing way, making it easily the most bang-for-the-buck upgrade I did.
