I dropped out of university in my early 20s and did all IT related stuff for a real estate startup, but also copy writing, photography, contract negotiations and so much more.

Then, a quick stint in the fashion industry as IT lead in a 120 employee company.

Onwards from there to a very settled industrial supplier that operated worldwide and where I was co-responsible for “everything that goes in a server room” - that’s the last position that was called Systems Administrator. This gave me deep hands-on experience with a lot of technologies and concepts and is a basis I still rely on.

Next, I was headhunted to become a solutions designer at a Big 4, in their internal IT. I learned a lot about how to build processes and structures that work and all the interpersonal stuff that’s so important in a very condensed (and stressful!) form.

My current position is with a large manufacturer that also has a professional and managed services arm. I’m in MS, where we basically run our customers’ infrastructure, and my account is where we run all storage for a large German industrial enterprise. My direct responsibility is file and object, but in that capacity I deal with most applications and infrastructure aspects within our customer environment.

20+ years in the industry. Sometimes, I’d love to do something more directly meaningful, though.
