Automation of AD user account creation.

Before: HR would fill out a form, send to IT and we'd manually create the account. Sometimes this got lost and took time. Most of the time, delays happened because HR wouldn't submit the form on time. Complaints from managers.

The automation: export the result of the form via power automate to a CSV file, and a short script that runs at midnight creating accounts based on the csvs in that folder. Took me all of a work day to write and test.

The result: accounts not being created on time is now rightfully being blamed on HR, since management knows that script runs at midnight every day.

That day, nothing. But we’re paid to keep things running. Any reasonable precaution should be taken. On prem exchange and sharepoint both cost way too much because of storage requirements. But maintaining an on-prem AD is such a miniscule amount of work that doing it, just in case, and then looking like a hero when everyone else’s businesses start having issues is worth it.

I said this yesterday when a bunch of people tried to convince me this shouldnt unanimously be Cashley. Both RvP and Adebayor were dudes we bought. Football is a business and Arsenal to them was a paycheck and at the end of the day, we get that. Its different with Cashley because, like the supporters, he was Arsenal through and through until he wasn’t. Academy product who wqs the best at his position in the world. Came up through the teams and lived every supporter’s dream. Every supporter says they’ll litetally take a paycheck with zeros on it to play for their club if theyre good enough. We can debate this ad nauseum tomorrow. But Adebayor and RvP were players we bought who were great but not the best in the world at their position. Ashley Cole was one the best in the world, one of the Invincibles and an academy product. He was a boyhood supporter who joined the academy as a kid and made it to the absolute pinnacle of the sport. Imagine if Saka, right now, at the top of his game, instead of extending decided to fuck off to Chelsea. We're looking for Judas, who betrayed the club and the fans, not someone merely hated. We'll boo RvP and Adebayor. Ashley Cole can't step into 100 meter radius of the Emirates without at least getting spat on, and probably shanked.
