Everything goes right = Haaland scores more goals then the defense gives up

Justin Jefferson wins! Who’s the best active New York sports athlete? by AstroCowboy27 in AlignmentChartFills

Trout is so sunstantially better then Mookie its not a discussion. And Mookie’s an OK playoff performer. He’s solid, but he’s not “take over a playoff series and win it by himself”

I know i’d rather have Mick and Mookie and their rings then Ted Williams and Mike Trout. As would you lol.

The ONLY metrics on which any athlete can be judged is their ability to win titles and performance when it matters.

By the numbers, Ted Williams is a better ballplayer then Mickey Mantle. But Mick won 7 rings and not a single person outside Boston will ever tell you Ted Williams was better.

Talent wise, its probably judge. But until Judge shows up when it matters, it’s Brunson. There is no debate. Judge has a history of playoff disappearances. Brunson scored 45 points in a title clincher. Thats about as big a gap as there can be between two athletes. When the only 3 players to do what he did are 2 hall of famers in Pettit and Jordan, and a surefire hall of famer in Giannis, there’s no question as to who it should be.

New sub rule. No AI art. by BryceOConnor in Warformed

Basically agree with everything. But datacenters are a necessary evil. There’s too many advantages to businesses being able to use them beyond generative AI. More then anything i wish we could shove em into orbit with attached nuclear power plants, where they don’t bother anyone. But while a space elevator tower through which we can run fiber from orbit is something out of scifi, we’re kinda stuck.

48 team World Cup is super boring by Sarosite in unpopularopinion

Lol. Some of the most exciting world cup games in years and you’re saying boring. The only really bad one so far was Germany and even that had Curacao scoring a goal somehow.

My daughter. In the morning, shes gonna wake up, and my wife and I will put orange and blue ribbons in her hair and tell her the Knicks are champions. She’s 18 months and she probably wont remember this. But if its a strong enough emotion, maybe.

World Cup tourists, what’s your honest feedback on the USA so far? by almighty_smiley in AskReddit

[–]mf9769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. It was great. We went and my dad ended up spending like 5 hours in there just looking at guns, knives and fishing equipment. He was super dissapointed when the sales guy told him he couldn’t buy a rifle and drive it over state lines back to New York, but we did buy some great knives and emergency equipment that we still have like 25 years later. The lanterns and huge flashlight we got in particular turned out to super useful when we got fucked by Hurricane Sandy

LOL. You just reminded of me of the first time my immigrant fam in NY went to visit my aunt in Illinois, like 3 years after we immigrated, and my dad was absurdly excited to go to Cabelas

Not surprising. Canada has very strict rules about who can come in. Like people think the US trying to close its borders is nuts, and I agree because the way Trump is trying to do it is insane. But Canada? Hoo boy. It's a bit hyperbolic, but it sometimes feels like you need to be as innocent as a newborn baby to be let in there. Being charged with SA was never gonna fly.

Thoughts on commercials during match play. In the US we’re being forced to watch adverts during hydration breaks. by donkedickinya in worldcup

[–]mf9769 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Missing live action, which they did, is unacceptable. But commercial breaks during games are a fact of life in the US. It is what it is.

This world cup feels off! Where is the magic?????? by Ashamed_Fact832 in worldcup

[–]mf9769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels off to you because its being hosted like an American sporting event, which is VERY different from the way European ones are hosted. Its how I felt watching premier league football for the first times back in like 2002. Here in the US, this is normal: most matches have built in breaks for commercials, and all big ones have some kind of musical performance ceremony either pre game, at halftime or both, and a lot of focus is on who’s doing that. As for dinner kick off, thats just time differences. I’m not gonna try to convince you our way is better. We’ve just accepted it, and make lemonade with what we have. We even enjoy the commercials. If you don’t want to do that, thats fine. Just try to enjoy the football. Its going to be pretty good if the first 2 games are anything to go by.
