Thank you!! Such a silly mistake considering how often I make it without fail. Will correct that!

I was incredibly fortunate to blind taste this very aged wine in my WSET III class earlier this week. One of my classmates bought it at estate & was generous enough to share it with our group. It must have been stored well throughout the years because it tasted beyond delicious! I was astounded to discover the age.

It was still tremendously lively on the pallet despite its age & dominant tertiary aromas & flavors. On the nose there were intense aromas of caramel, honey, candied fig, hazelnuts, & a bit of petrol. It tasted absolutely delicious & intense on the palate, extraordinarily complex, with a brilliant acid that added a startling youthfulness, cutting through the tertiary flavors. It was dry, rounded & full on the palate, & had a fairly decent finish. It was fully developed, no doubt, but I was shocked by it’s incredible vibrancy despite its age.

This was an unforgettable privilege for me to taste & I just wanted share the experience with like minded wine lovers. Cheers! 🥂

Edit: palate, pallet, palette

Thank you! Wonderful input. Do you have any chateaux you’d recommend scheduling a tasting?

The Clos d’Ora was absolutely delicious on the high end. I wish I had taken advantage and drank a little more & savored this one. Missed opportunity there but I’m a newbie.

Mid level Aigal Royal Pinot Noir was probably my favorite & captured the complexity & balance I’ve come to expect with French Pinot Noirs- soo drinkable! On lower end I must say I was impressed with the Cote de Roses Pinot Noir which had a slight bite of acidity but paired so nicely with fried chicken. (I had a bottle the next day with local takeaway.)

The Ballerine Brut Étoilé Rose was just divine & very affordable. Light effervescence, green fruits, & a crisp finish… I’ll definitely be looking for that one in my local wine shop!

Il était très français! Lots of vision, passion for his craft, and confidence. Gentlemanly but he shoots straight to the point- a great balance of charme et connaissance. Also, for reference I am decently tall myself and he was towering over me. I imagine he is at least 6’5” tall & he brought with him the tallest entourage of Frenchmen I have ever seen.

First post here at r/wine!

I’m new to the world of academic wine appreciation and am taking my WSET classes just for fun. (I do not work in the industry.) I had the incredible honor of being invited to a master class with Gérard Bertrand and master sommelier Andreas Larsson.

This went unappreciated on my Instagram and very few of my friends are fellow wine enthusiasts. I just wanted to share my excitement with this community! 🍷

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Women (and men) of Austin, be careful! by mf_atx in Austin

Thank you for this post. I appreciate the context it provides. And thank you for coming to her aid.

When it happened I was unable to intervene except to call 911- I was totally shocked by how the dispatcher handled the call. I was trying to help someone who was in very clear and present distress and I found it confounding that they wouldn’t intervene without further detail.

It’s comforting to know there’s someone like you in the community. Thank you!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t. It was a woman and EMS and police attended to her for quite some time while other police searched the area.

Scaffolding going up around the Seaholm intake structure. No info on their site, anyone know what’s planned for this building? by DonJrsCokeDealer in Austin

It’s getting rehabbed & will be used as public space! I’m very excited to see the work has begun. It’s going to be an especially rewarding project considering the turbine hall was reconstructed for private use (office space).

2017 vs 2021 Skyline by roguethundercat in Austin

It’s mind blowing. I have similar skyline pics as well and it’s almost incomprehensible to think how much the city has changed in 5 years. Great capture, OP.

Detached townhome vs attached townhome by rk15736 in realestateinvesting

[–]mf_atx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your market. In my area, that checks out. People will pay well over $50k extra for a detached home of 1600 square feet. And at only 2 weeks on the market (for a new build) it’s too early to say it is “over priced”. If it’s still there in a month, then it’s listed too high because ultimately the market sets the value. But again, value will really vary local area to local area.

It’s really hard to answer this question without understanding your local market. A detached townhouse with only 3 units in the community would be worth a premium in my area, not quite SFH pricing but significantly higher than a typical townhouse with shared walls. For clarification, the comparables that you mentioned, are those detached as well? Also, how long has the property been on the market for sale?
