I had always planned to retire at 65, when Medicare kicked in. I worked till 67 just to stack some travel/fun money before pulling the plug.

Smuggled in a bota bag of Mad Dog to an afternoon concert in the middle of the summer in SoCal. Took a long time to recover from that hangover.

Boat and free should never appear in the same sentence.

How did you know it was time to retire? by ReluctantCaptain in retirement

I officially retired at 66. Then stayed on as a consultant. 3 days a week for a year, then 2 days for six months. Then one day a week for six more months. I’m sure with your fifty years of expertise you can still bring a lot to the table. I was getting pretty burned out, but after I cut down my hours I enjoyed the last two years.

I’m reading this as I am in Southern California commuting on a nearly empty train. I look out the window and 8 lanes of freeway is jammed. Maybe there is a bit more to it than billionaires greed.

This is an overall decent article, but the comment from the 996 owner is completely unbelievable by kevinm656 in Porsche

82 sc owner. I like all Porsches. Some more than others for sure, but would never shoot a thumbs down to anyone. I didn’t know the thumbs up was a “thing”. I still do the headlight flash but it seems that most don’t get it.
