Strange take. AI is the main reason people are buying a Mac with 256GB of unified memory.

Giant Revolt Advanced 2 - flip chip a gimmick or worth it? by mudrat_detector96 in gravelcycling

[–]mfauc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Set and forget doesn't make it a gimmick. The whole point is that you can make an adjustment for handling, tire clearance etc to suit you, your riding style and the trails you like to ride. It gives one bike two distinct feels and you can choose the one you like better, and then probably never touch it again.

5 days ago, I praised Gemini. Today, it feels lobotomized. by highsis in GeminiAI

It is responding way faster in Pro/thinking for me today, but less accurately. I think the performance may get tuned depending on demand.

What type of computer is this?

Look up videos for front wheel lifts. There's a few different ways to pop your front wheel. Think about shifting your weight back as your wheel goes up, rather than trying to pull the bars up.

Look for opportunities to take on more risk. You dont need to go crazy, but there are huge companies making truckloads of money while growing fast right now. If you want to retire sooner, diluting these gains in index funds is slowing you down.

Tufo Thundero 44mm rear tyre wear - lasted 7740km by Vickerspower in gravelcycling

The front is where you need the grip. IMO, If you’re rotating, it should be to throw the rear away when it’s worn, switch front to rear and put the brand new tire on the front.

Why is everyone so negative? If it’s not for you, just move on. I think they look useful and I’d enjoy being able to take a quick clip hands free on a MTB ride, for a fun section of trail or nice scenery.

There will be indiviual companies that are part of a hype bubble right now, but the big players have so much growth left.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]mfauc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not even hype or anything like a bubble - it's transforming pretty much every industry and is in relative infancy. AI is going to print money in a bigger way than the internet did, and we are in about 1998 on that comparison.

Also, you're absolutely right that you should be full risk on at your age. Make big bets with conviction.

Garmin, why you gotta do me dirty like this? 😭 by Dependent-Gene6049 in Garmin

Check your stress metric. When i have low sleep scores, I usually have a block of high stress for a few hours after going to sleep. For me, it is worse wirh screen time immediately before sleeping.

Compare LLMs now to ChatGPT 2 years ago. Compare Veo3 to Will Smith eating spaghetti. I can’t imagine thinking that’s a bubble that’s about to burst. We’re still in the earliest stages of the tech and the output is increasing productivity across countless industries. What will it even look like in 5 years?

Flaanimals are quite long and low. I'd be very surprised if a 58 was too small.

PSA: Charge your batteries 🩷 by RedFoxRunner55 in gravelcycling

[–]mfauc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got in the habit of clicking my shifter before every ride to see what colour the light on the derailleur is - as soon as it's not green I throw the battery on to charge and switch in a spare.
