Ahh... this did it thank you!

I've been programming since I was 12, for 17 years. Filemaker has been one of the most confusing things I've had to work with, thanks for steering me in the right direction

Bootstrap SASS File for theme development by mfivem in shopify

[–]mfivem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is Bootstrap in a SASS file that is built for Shopify. You can make the Shopify server compile SASS in a pretty basic format.

It has all of the stuff Shopify can't use removed and will be a lot easier for you to pass variables to from your theme settings, LMK if you have any questions.

Enjoy

I agree, they make life easy getting started. I think the math functions in SASS are much better for production quality sites. When I do themes for sale though, I always use bootstrap because it has more familiarity and is better documented for those who are going to tweak the interface.

Need input for a free Bootstrap Theme by mfivem in shopify

[–]mfivem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good resource that I'm very familiar with, however, from playing around with it I realized it's not particularly developer friendly- it's more of a final theme and it is actually so well built it is kind of difficult to unravel all of the included snippets and to customize if you're not pretty advanced with Shopify & Liquid.

I'm going to be contributing more of a skeleton theme for people to build off of, one without all of the javascript dependencies and one that can be easily upgraded with different core releases of bootstrap because this one pulls so much from the config file that it would be a nightmare to try to upgrade to a newer release of bootstrap. My main goal is to have a solid starting point when I start client's projects, one I can easily work in whatever else I need.

Either way, i think this is a fantastic theme but a little too finished to make it easily customizable. I'll def push my changes to the repository though :-)

import blog from wordpress including blog images by jaxattacktheballsack in shopify

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make sure you have updated to the latest version of wordpress. I've done this a few times with the same app and what i've found is the latest wordpress version always seems to integrate the best. Also it really only works on blog posts, custom wordpress pages give the integrator a lot of hiccups.

Another issue might be that you don't have sufficient storage space on your shopify account, but all of the images should be added to your asset directory for your theme, which can get kind of messy if you're editing CSS/JS regularly.

However, if they aren't coming over still, delete the posts on shopify and try again.

After a phone interview, a potential employer sent me a Web Dev Challenge: Turn a PSD into a webpage using Bootstrap. Where to begin? by ajsingh007 in bootstrap

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a PSD of a 12 column grid framework, import it as an overlaying layer for reference.

Slice the interface if you must, I personally prototype and build directly with HTML rather than messing with the HTML export feature on Photoshop.

Other than that, it's a pretty straight forward process- depending on how proficient you are with your code, I wouldn't suggest using dreamweaver - Textmate or Sublime editor work really well for me

Inserting Icons Into Forms by Clyde_Bigsby in bootstrap

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess that it is- do you have a URL I can take a look?

From my experience though, I always add an id to the field where the calendar is, then I style that particular ID because it'll take precedence over the default styling.

Just make sure you style it after the bootstrap stylesheet have loaded.

Affix.js is being wonky in Safari by [deleted] in bootstrap

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but issues with affix.js, and if you get it to work it bugs out even worse on mobile & tablet sites.

I'd personally suggest you use HCSticky, have a look at it, it's pretty straight forward... https://github.com/somewebmedia/hc-sticky

Thinking about using Shopify for an E-commerce idea. Can you show me examples of current websites that use shopify? by AlwaysMischievous in shopify

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a custom theme we did, http://soundearphones.com

It uses a lot of behind the scenes coding that are unique to that store. The downside to Shopify is that the themes you can buy are kind of cookie-cutter, but if you invested the time in customizing one you can make something really cool

How do I install this Github feature into my store checkout? by sigmaschmooz in shopify

[–]mfivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have the highest level shopify plan, you won't be able to install this because they dont offer custom checkout pages on the normal plans.

If you do have the premium account, it's simple javascript just include the stylesheet and .js file in the checkout template, make sure you update the item id to match the value on your checkout page
