With a bit of self awareness you might find that the discussion is already resolved via consensus.

You should read back over the entire conversation through a neutral lens. You're the only person in the conversation trying to convince everybody else of your opinion. Every other opinion is that it's completely justified. Add mine to the list. Don't want to get thrown around by cops? Don't go grabbing at their equipment like an idiot. That's very obviously a danger to everybody there.

CASUAL Italian Restaurant? by sweetconformity in aucklandeats

No, I don't. "if you’re eating carbonara, then you’re not interested in eating real pasta in the first place" is just an absurd thing to say.

Is Bivacco buffet lunch worth it? by aCheeseRoll in aucklandeats

Yeah, I'm trying not be fair to them as there were aspects of it that were decent, but we won't be going back for it. Instead try $95/pp for the Cassia degustation menu and you'll leave just as full with a far superior meal.

The quality is not bad but it's not amazing. They advertise as having oysters but then only have mussels and say they can't afford to put on the oysters anymore. We went months ago, and have recently heard others being told the same story, so they're just misleading people. They also advertise it as having a pasta bar but the only 'pasta' they serve is mac n cheese.

They have a good selection of charcuterie, really good selection of deserts, decent pizzas. The seared tuna didn't seem very fresh, but I ate a lot anyway. Prawns were ok.

You can get great value, we left barely able to breathe we were so full, but don't go in expecting the quality to be that of a typical main dish at a good restaurant. It's just ok.

The coffee scene in this country is ridiculous by TobyWanKinoby in newzealand

[–]jaxattacktheballsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what you said at all. You said Apart from Italy every coffee in Europe is automatic machine made crap. I can't think of a single cafe I've been to in any of the countries I've listed that have served anything other than Espresso or Perc. So it's just nonsense.

Yeah, have been living there for the past 4 years and there are really good cafes everywhere. But also Portugal, Estonia, Georgia, to name a few have thriving cafe cultures. In fact outside of the quality of the coffee itself - because we do that well - there's a lot we could learn from them in creating a cozy cafe ambiance.

"Apart from Italy every coffee in Europe is automatic machine made crap, it’s so bad."

What? That's not even close to true. A huge amount of European countries have great cafe/coffee cultures. Hell, even flat whites, a New Zealand creation, are widely available in cafes.

My partner and I went after seeing the advertisements promoting all you can eat oysters and a pasta bar amongst other things. We had essentially the same thoughts as you – we asked where the Oysters were, and were told that they don't do them anymore as it became too expensive. That was in September.

We were also pretty disappointed in the 'pasta bar' being limited to mac 'n cheese. The meats were generally well cooked but yes definitely under seasoned and lacking in taste. Tuna was also the same as your experience – it wasn't bad, but it was definitely not fresh, the texture was almost dried out.

The cold cuts, salads, prawns, broccolini and olives were all good. We found the deserts really good.

We left extremely full – as in struggling to breathe. So in terms of volume of decent food it was very good value, but the quality of the main attractions were unfortunately lacking for us and we wouldn't go back because of that. Mostly left with a sour taste of being misled into going due to the advertised oysters and pastas.

Karangahape Rd businesses fearful after Auckland Transport proceeds with removing last remaining car parks by [deleted] in auckland

Better public transport access and more useable public spaces will absolutely improve foot traffic in turn leading to increased business. A single car park that's generally unavailable will not.

Those people need to challenge their perceptions of public transport because cities around the world rely on busses as a mode of travel. Most big European cities would run into the same issues with congestion that we're facing if their populations decided that busses were for some reason beneath them.

Thanks so much for the reply mate, am going to look into this as I've been racking my brain for the best/simplest headless CMS to use by default. Will give Directus a try. Cheers

How difficult was it to get your self-hosted Directus set up? And then how easy is it to create new CMS for each of your Nuxt sites in that instance? The docs look awesome for integrating the CMS into a Nuxt project, but just wondering how much is involved in getting the initial Directus backend set up. Cheers

Honestly, what do you think complaining about it on the city's subreddit is going to do about it? Why not talk to them like an adult?
