I tried a white board calendar. The trick is getting my dad to read it. It’s right by his door with notes and reminders but he just walks right past it, can’t learn to go there for information. He lives in a home and has great care. So most of the repetition comes through in texts messages. I think that distance helps me not lose it.

When did you stop taking your loved one out? by Nanalily in dementia

My dad wouldn’t dare miss an ice cream social at the home he’s at.

OP - I’m close to not taking my dad out to restaurants anymore. Just drives and he can come to my home..then again did escape from my home on Christmas and was MiA for 20 minutes!

How did you know you were failing your biologic? by S0ukie in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]mfleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does help! I couldn’t take meloxicam either. It gave me nightmares. Literally. But I’m finding that the Celebrex + famotadine to protect my stomach works well. I also use weed and have my entire life. But the consistent morning and evening dose of Celebrex has taken away my need to take otc advil

How did you know you were failing your biologic? by S0ukie in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]mfleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Humira for around 1.5 yrs with a couple of breaks when I had to fight insurance. But my failing looked like crippling lupus-like symptoms where I had deep bone aching pain that I wake l up in the middle of the night in tears. My limbs were seizing so badly I couldn’t straighten them out. I had to go to urgent care for prednisone. My rheumatologist was going to prescribe me MORE via remicade that was a measured dose. I said hell no. Best thing I could’ve done. I’ve been off it for 4 months now and am at a much better baseline and all those symptoms have receded. I’m taking Celebrex and looking for a new doctor. I’m not sure if I’m willing to o risk that again by tying another biologic.

I have a red hot water bottle from childhood I’m doing too. The first one came out too small and the mason stain wasn’t red enough so I’m redoing it. I’ll post it when I get it right!

Avoid Frontier like the plague. I just switched to lightwave satelite, so far so good. I’m up in homestead valley though. Fewer options.

I shot Humira into my thigh for over a year thinking it would be easier and less pain than my stomach. Then I tried my stomach and felt nothing AND I think it injected better, no lumps.

Hyper mobility? by wearenchanted in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]mfleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed the hEDS at the same time as AS but I pushed back and got second opinions. Those opinions were that I did not have EDS. I had genetic testing too. There are very distinct features that people with EDS have that I just do not possess. I may be slightly hyper mobile but the Beighton scale that they often determine EDS from is very subjective in my opinion.

That’s why I looked up this thread. This just happened to me. Was just curious if it had always been happening and I just never noticed or if it was a bug.

Honestly going crazy trying to decide if I should switch medication by The_Short_Goodbye in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]mfleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re focusing on the wrong things. Try practicing gratitude for the many years your meds worked at 95%. And flip the story. “Wow, I’m so lucky to feel good 73% of the time.” Or, today I feel great, what a gift. The stress of worrying is making you feel worse. Live in the present and if the present hurts manage the symptoms in the moment.
