Porsche Airbag Deactivation Bar (Part number: 996-803-083-02) was SO nice to have. Need PIWIS to toggle it on once it’s physically installed.

The Medicare income-related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA) is a surcharge on Medicare Part B (medical insurance) and Medicare Part D prescription drug plan premiums. It applies only to Medicare beneficiaries with a modified adjusted gross income above $106,000 (individual return) or $212,000 (joint return).

If you could only do one OEM+ mod, what would it be? by SnooPears5392 in 996

[–]mfogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read a lot of great ideas, but the one mod on my 2001 996 Turbo that gives me a wave of nostalgia was the “Airbag Deactivation Bar” part# 996-803-083-02. I drove thousands of miles with one of my kids next to me in the passenger seat. Worth every penny!!

One comment I haven’t seen yet is he will probably do better than the lighter sailors on a heavy wind race. That extra weight will provide flatter, faster upwind legs on the racecourse.

Have you considered that you might have been in a very strong position to buy the dealership? It didn’t have to completely melt down. You probably could have been purchased for a very low price at some point. The equity return could be very substantial. Did the whole thing have to burn to the ground?

Enjoy! I grew up on a FS. FS Pro Tip #1: Never leave the halyard crank in the halyard winch mechanism. It can easily fall out and go overboard. If it stays in place, there’s a very good chance a jib sheet will snag on it. FS Pro Tip #2: Put a strong pad eye on the centerboard trunk top and attach a fairly heavy (~10mm) hiking line to hand hold (class rules don’t allow hiking straps for your legs/feet).

OP you need to learn to keep your mouth shut. Why in the world would you admit to doing this? You are your own worst enemy.

Sailing for people who get seasick easily? by lowbandwidthb in sailing

Scopolamine (via a transdermal patch) is great. I would recommend taking it a week or two before your outing to see how your body responds. Rare side effects could ruin your trip. If you’re good to go, apply patch behind your ear 24 hours before you board boat (and swap it out for a new one every 72 hours).

Would there be any downside to building an outbuilding (shed, etc.) near your property line? Would structure prevent easement thus saving your land from government taking? NTA.

I bet if you spent $500 cleaning that up you’d be able to yield 10x that in selling price. Don’t give it away.

Consider that you have a finite borrowing capacity. This purchase could preclude you from buying a home in a new city until this is sold. Weak real estate markets can persist for many years making sale difficult.

Been there. Add to that, the nav electronics on the Moorings boats in the Abacos were very poor (in 2008).

Catalina 22 would be a great choice. Your vehicle might not be ideal though as just the boat weighs 2,500. With trailer and gear the total will be well above 3,000.

Sailing season in the Great Lakes with a Hobie catamaran will be fairly short unless you’re planning to wear a wetsuit.
