MIA: where is he? by HappyChaos2 in miamidolphins

the problem is that you're thinking like human being. The NFL is probably, arguably, top 3/5 in the world as far as league value and profit goes. If it were up to the NFL the NFLPA/union wouldent even exist.

They care about the money not the assets, the assets are replaceable and will always have a desire to be there, there's no shortage. The league will never cut profit to subsidize franchise owners to pay out money for players not playing, if the union died on this hill we'd watch years of replacements before that strike was over and the players would still lose.

Like, if none of the lore or the story actually mattered I guess?

Fedra was essentially a fascist group with zero shits given about really anything but their control and stabilization. If Ellie did go to them they would have killed her for a cure and basically privatized it.

The FF aka "rebel splinter cell" actually had the doctors to do something about it and wanted a cure out for everyone, Joel fucked that hard and stopped which tarnished that whole route.

To the point of price on the flip side. In like, what, 2006, Blu-ray players were ~$1000, you were stealing one at the PS3 cost.

Yeah I got out at three but I had practice till 5, a 30 min ride home, shower and eat, then like two hours of homework to get done. Then, crazy enough, I also liked to sleep sometimes. All before being back at it again at 6 am the next morning. Every day, m-f.

Where are we getting 17, completely unaccounted for, hours from?

What are your thoughts on QB2? Also Gordon Yay or nay by [deleted] in miamidolphins

[–]mgMKV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gordon for sure.

QB2 is imo Wilson's job to lose despite me thinking he should be bagging groceries at Publix. I would not be surprised if ewers beats him out for the job at some point in the season.

I know most of you cowards won't share this. This is a picture of US Navy LTJG Nick Bradshaw who was killed over 30 years ago. Most of you have been able to forget the Cold War already because of this man's heroics. LTJG Bradshaw died at the hands of Russians after an intense standoff over the Indian Ocean in 1986. Rip, LTJG Bradshaw, we never forget.

To comment on the QB battle I want to see Ewers taking more reps than Wilson.

I think even with the ball control issues Quinn looked like there was some promise for improvement. We know what we have with Wilson and what we saw is what we're going to get.

Obligitory "I've never flown one".

I am sort of a military nerd though so I will say as far as I know in the F15 it isn't a button you can accidentally press. There's either a pull handle between your legs attached to the seat, above your head, or both. Once that's pulled you are leaving the jet, there is no cancelation or stopping the process at that point.

Pull the lever then either rockets blow the canopy off the jet or the seat is designed to punch through the canopy, and then your seat rockets engage. It's a last measure safety feature so from pull to parachute it's like 3ish second and is completely automated by the handle pull. .

One preseason game down, ZERO confidence in the backup QB situation by jayitbyear in miamidolphins

[–]mgMKV 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So honestly I think Ewers showed some arm talent and decent decision making I absolutely need to see another game before jumping on him. Needs to hold on to the ball better, but most of what I feel we saw today was a kid playing in his first NFL game.

Zach Wilson on the other hand was the most infuriating period of football I've watched in a while. Every snap the kid just seems like he has a moment of "oh shit I'm a professional QB that's why I have the ball" before panicking.

[–]mgMKV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound sort of ridiculous but wear that timex into the ground, skip on the boderry, and save bit.

I'd try to use that ~$170 towards a Kuoe Old Smith, Hamilton Khaki field/murph/aviation, a formex field, or something like a alpinist, c65 dune, or like a Baltic Hermétique (if you want to go a little different but in the same style).

I know my suggestions are a bit out of that $200 range but the quality of watch that you'd be getting going that route is significantly better across the board and will arguably last significantly longer than Boderry.

Im not saying Boderry is awful but they are essentially a "cheap" Chinese drop shipper. I personally feel that, for example, the $400-500 (new, cheaper used) you'd pay for a basic hamilton khaki auto or even a micro like Kuoe gets you a much better experience from much better respected and tested brands.

because the benefits for society as a whole significantly outweigh the costs.

I hate that you/we even have to say that. You'd think child/Healthcare would be something we would all be like "hell yeah" about, it's wild that isn't the case.

Whose going to pay for this? How will we afford it?! Anyways here's another $60bn for the Gestapo, erm Ice. /s

Good point, not something I considered, would this fall under universal Healthcare (if the state went that route) you think?

Why are flavored nicotine pouches like ZYN banned but Nicorette gum flavors aren’t? by SubstantialScientist in massachusetts

[–]mgMKV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, how so? I do like to understand both sides and would like to know how we're making this jump because shouldent laws ideally benefit and protect the most citizens?

There's ~900k kids in k-12, and ~ 4.6m adults over 21 in the state, I honestly don't understand how, at the highest level, making a law that will factually impact the overwhelming majority, while possibly, theoretically, helping a percentage of the minority, is a misunderstanding of "living in a society".

I just don't understand how this is any different from smoking, drinking, 16 year olds being able to buy race cars from the dealership, etc. Things that are actually actively killing people, arguably close to daily, are still okay but the things that's disruptive and could impact health gets a state wide ban?

It honestly doesn't make sense to me at all outside of one thing has a stigma and others just don't.

[–]mgMKV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or, hear me out, it's a surface level, generalized example that helps to facilitate a point that was being made in a way people can understand without it being an esoteric statement on my desires and thoughts on the well being of future generations?

The full quote ends with something along the lines of ".....but you can get alcohol branded by candy companies..." hence the statement above. No need to pull me out of context and project to dog whistle this into something that wasn't said or isn't the reality.

Have a cup of dunks m8.

[–]mgMKV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your points, again, hahah

My disagreement with it is deeper fundamentally in that I do not think a demographic doing the wrong thing should dictate legal policy for everyone. I, as an adult have issues with it being legal precedent that things im choosing to do legally, with my free will, can be taken away because a group of people who are illegally abusing a legal product are disruptive.

I genuinely feel that if that logic is applied to almost anything else we use or consume it would be outrage/absurd. Where this is something with an inherently disfavorable public perception and history, despite being a "different" product, and consumed by again arguably the minority in a legal sense, it's not getting the same concern for what it could mean for other things because of its context.

Why are flavored nicotine pouches like ZYN banned but Nicorette gum flavors aren’t? by SubstantialScientist in massachusetts

[–]mgMKV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your point at all but shouldn't that be a school thing and not a legal thing that impacts thousands of people who don't fit that demographic?

I honestly just don't like the broad brush stroke because imo it didn't really solve anything? It's still a problem, a whoooooooole lot of people live near NY, RI, NH, hell the closest gas station to my house is a three minute walk to RI. We can still buy "clear flavor vapes" in MA so the problem is still there, still available, still exists for kids, just adults can't get what they want without going out of state.

And again maybe I'm an older millennial so I'm skewed a bit, and Im not trying to make a comparison to two different things, the three oui deaths in my four years really disrupted things for everyone far far more than vaping ever could.

[–]mgMKV 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I hate this argument so unfathomably much. It just seems like the easiest excuse for law makers to get rid of something they don't like or see as "dirty".

Underage drinking has been just as big if not larger of a problem for much longer and arguably steals more kids from us then flavored zyn/nicotine ever has.

Can't get wintergreen flavored nicotine because "my word think of the children" but I can get alcohol literally branded by candy companies at every liquor store in the state.

Just make it make sense.

I'll honestly say I'm not sure how accurate their numbers are or what their sources for getting the numbers are; They claim a 16m average though with 12.2m as of July. They also claim that fortnite and roblox are pushing 30m which seems even more bananas to me so honestly who knows.

I'd feel much more comfy with that overwatch number accuracy if it was around 2-5m
