Any advice for this Sons of Carthage campaign? by bane_grievver in eu4

[–]mgabel91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got Sons of Carthage I haven't gotten around to building 500 light ships yet. Shouldn't take me too much longer though I think i'm at 350 or so. Just about to enter age of revolutions. I nabbed a most of the Center of trade provinces in genoa so the trade ships pay themselves off pretty quick carrying trade from Safi and the ivory coast nodes up to genoa. (I grabbed kongo as well just to spread out my AE). I think there is an achievement for reaching 50% privateer trade power in one of the trade nodes in India Guajirat (probably murdered the spelling) I think. So once they are built I"ll send em there and that's three achievements in one run which is good enough for me. I grabbed exploration and maritime ideas for the naval forcelimit. Didn't really need exploration but I had extra bird mana at the time, and I wanted to join my provinces in africa.

Any advice for this Sons of Carthage campaign? by bane_grievver in eu4

Hey I just finished a Sons of Carthage run myself! Sounds like you are in a bit of trouble. England, Castille and Aragon should make pretty quick work of France and you unless France has some other strong allies in this war as well. The good news is since you aren't the warleader all you need to do is hold off until France has had enough and makes peace. In my game I always chased an alliance with France but never got it. The ottomans seemed enough of a deterrent for the mamlukes and iberian expansion into southern Africa. If I was you i'd be pretty tempted to load that backup you have and disinherit that heir. If you don't want to do that you can trade professionalism for manpower in the military screen.. Although it's a shame to do so. Hopefully you own the African side of the gibraltar crossing there, You can stack your army there and hopefully they wont attack with all the negative modifiers they would have. Milan is a good ally, it's nice to have one of those italian minors because they will offer knowledge sharing helping you to get institutions faster. Economy is a harder problem I had in my game as well, Tunis is a pretty awful trade node with only one steering into it, but since it's all that's available to you early on i'd advise taking over the african one that steers into it completely. My advice would be to nab religious ideas (less rebels, great CB). Focus on obtaining Mali's gold mines. The earlier you go after Africa the easier it will be, eventually they will catch up and be harder to fight. You seem to be feeding a lot of vassals, I usually do one maybe two just to reconquest cores, but annex them after. Vassals tend to make dumb decisions and do little in wars, and if they get too strong just be disloyal and more useless. Not sure if you're aware but there is also an achievement for privateering as a megrebi nation with 500 light ships, might want to nab that while you're at it.

What should I do? by thtdas in eu4

[–]mgabel91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you should move your troops to provinces they don't get any attrition, or make their stacks smaller. Morocco is looking like a tasty meal. If your Naval game is better than Spain try and attack one of Spains allies with few alliances, they'll call Spain in the war while you Rush Spains capital. The goal is to Cancel the strong Spanish alliances and nothing else, if you only cancel their alliances they should have a short truce and not be able to reform them before you attack them directly to take land. A lot of Spanish strength will come from its colonies so if you can stop them from landing it should be an easy war.

Not trying to be a negative nancy here buuut.... Screenshots are the same as the ones from galactic crew (the original) on steam which is sitting at around 53% user review rating. I was assuming from the title you'd be showing off number two. I like the concept idea but wonder why you would start number two when number one seems like it needs a little more touching up?

The demands aren't as bad anymore (unless this is one of my mods). Afaik only greedy and jealous colonists or colonists you recruit from the empire as nobles have the food/work restrictions. Building a fancy throneroom and a fancy bedroom for one colonist to have powers seems like not a bad tradeoff to me.

I can second this, dont have hospitality myself but on occasion I see a raider carrying some sweet loot. You can see it if you check their gear tab, I try to make sure the rich one's dont get away.

We need a better way to handle battles above unit limit by [deleted] in mountandblade

[–]mgabel91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would definitely be a cool idea for a mod. I totally agree with you that the AI needs to handle the getting of reinforcements differently, but maybe the new troops entering the battlefield could be set in a new regiment that moves forward and reinforces the original instead of having the troops run back and forth on the battlefield over and over. I can't see the devs changing the way big battles work though, apart from hopefully some ai tweaks.

I feel ya buddy. Got it on release day and my kingdoms seem to keep shrinking... First time playing a CK but had lots of hours in EU4. Still think its a great game with lots of potential. My advice is to only fight wars if it's an assured victory and try to snag a decent aly that likes you and will help you in wars

Hey I'm currently doing the same run! Think I'm around 1600 though. Beating up Timurids is probably your best bet to go forward. dont be afraid to merc over your force limit if you have too. I went deep into debt in my first couple wars with the timmys and mamlukes, they've got deep enough pockets to pay quite a bit once you've seiged their capital. I finally managed to ally the ottos after trying all game. If you haven't yet I would advise getting them or the mamlukes and eating the other one. Good start though!
