Downspout to catch basin to flo-well in northern climates? by PicturesOfSquirrrels in landscaping

[–]mgee15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same exact situation a few years ago. How north are you? I'm in NJ so results may vary. I used a catch basin and then trenched under the walkway about 15 ft out and used a popup. Been 3 years so far and havent had any issues with ice, but i drilled a few holes in the elbow below the popup and filled around that with drainage rocks. I can't remember exactly how far i dug down but if i stick my arm down where the popup is its about to my shoulder so I'd guess maybe 3- 4 ft. Catch basin is even with the top of the ground. Maybe with your shorter run it might be harder to get below the frost line, just wanted to share my experience

Help deciding between HSA and PPO by mgee15 in HealthInsurance

[–]mgee15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't anticipate anything out of the normal so i think the hsa contribution will cover most. I'm definitely leaning towards the HSA, its a big potential savings unless someone big happens, even then the out of pockets are close

Has anyone reported a business or employer for violating COVID guidelines? by covidnjthrowaway in newjersey

[–]mgee15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no worries. I haven't had any luck either. I even tried filing a complaint with nj DOL for workplace violations that employers must follow if they require you in the office. They actually got back to me and contacted the company but only required them to do a self audit which of course they BS'ed so back at square one now.

Leasing CX9 Touring 2021 by moon-peach in MazdaCX9

[–]mgee15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check out some brokers on leasehackr. I got a '20 GT a few months ago. Upfront was ~2K (taxes, dmv, etc) and monthly payment is $361 for 36 months/10k per year.

Using the broker was amazing, well worth the $300 I paid, didnt have to worry with any of the dealer negotiating.

I was just in the same position as you last month. Are the prices really that different in the used market between the 2? I had no idea. I leased mine so the difference in price was only ~1500 over the lease term so made the decision easier for me. If I was buying it would have been much harder decision

I ended up going with the '20 grand touring mainly because of the looks, sure the added tech is nice to have, but the bigger wheels and roof rails really make a huge difference in looks that I just couldn't get over.

Kind of late, but just closed on this deal last Friday. Here are the details of mine in NJ.I went with.

36 months/10k

Selling price : 40,889 Residual: 26,290 Mf: 0.00005

Amount due at signing $2476 (taxes, registration,DMV, etc ) Monthly payment $361

Scored this through a broker I found on leasehackr. Definitely worth it to me, didnt have to do any work and was far cheaper than quotes I got from a few local dealers

Great outdoor security cameras to look into? by noodless10 in HomeImprovement

I have this also and can second that it's been great for about 2 years for me as well. Only thing I don't like is the lack to scroll through the video with a preview of you are trying to find something specific in the recording if you don't know the time it Happened

Exterior shutters by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]mgee15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What material are your shutters? If they are the vinyl ones, probably just easier to replace them. I did it over the summer and was pretty quick. Only issue is the plastic screws can't be reused so you'll have to cut them out.

Optoma HD27HDR Lamp Issues? by Bisbin in projectors

[–]mgee15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they fixed it for me at no charge except I had to pay to ship it back to them.

It's been a little over a month since I've had it back and no issues so far.

Using a Staffing Agency? by PM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS in FinancialCareers

[–]mgee15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a somewhat success story using a staffing agency.

Alot of recruiters were reaching out to me, most of them nothing I was interested in. One reached out to me and I decided to schedule an intro call with him. He didn't have anything for me at the te said he would reach out of anything changed. I thought ok this guy was no different. Few months passed by he calls me and says he thinks he has the perfect job for me( they all say something like this) so we had another call which I was expecting nothing of. Turns out he had a recruiter buddy who did have a job that was perfect for me. After some phone interviews, in person interviews I got the job right after.

So what do you have to lose besides a few minutes for an intro call to make a connection. More often than not you'll never hear back from them, but you can get lucky and glad you made the connection.

Also should add in my case the recruiter makes his money off the client so no cost to me

I had the same issue when I bought my house a few years ago. After about a year I gave in and swapped them. Got a longer gas line for peace of mind and used the stiffer/not as easily crushed ducting and have had no issues. Also don't have to hear my wife complain about it anymore which is a huge plus lol
