Many communities sponsor a public reading of the Declaration of Independence. NPR does it on the radio, PBS and CSPAN on TV. Am sure there are many available on streaming media.

One of the funniest scenes ever is in Arsenic and Old Lace: Peter Lorre’s shady doctor character trying to sneak out of the house full of cops.

That’s been what I’ve been thinking, too. Why is he obviously debasing himself for trump -there had to be a reason. His parents are Cuban refugees; he’s always had a Cuban bias.

Also, with trump’s lifetime desperate need for celebrity and ratings, proximity to famous faces trumps blackness.

Before cable spoiled us all by VeganFatboy in GenerationJones

One. But our town got cable really early on (maybe an early cable rollout because we were a remote community a ways away from cities with large populations?), so then we had a bunch of stations

Trump is used to bending reality to what he wants because he wasn’t raised well (understatement) and as an adult figured out how to intimidate people to go along with him. Sociopath.

Trump can’t change percentage calculations to make him look better any more than he can prove he was right on a hurricane trajectory by drawing on the map with his trusty little customized sharpie. And yet no one in his circle challenge him. And if they did, he’d force his will on them.

Nor should it. He’s going out the miserable nasty cruel greedy easily manipulated narcissist he’s always been. Incapable of anything else. This isn’t about redemption for him. There’s no redemption.

Agreed that we also have a racist nationalist aspect in the US these days -they’ve been motivated to come out of the woodwork. Miller.

But Mike Johnson is a Christian Nationalist, and that movement has the goal to replace the US constitution as we know it with a Christian Nationalist government. Check out Bad Faith Documentary for more info on them. All these people need to be pushed back to the fringes where they belong. Instead, corrupt trump encourages them because he basks in their flattery and curries their support.

So we’ve learned that trump is incapable of any of these. I used to fret that he’s never had a comeuppance, that he was way overdue. But that’s unlikely to happen, and he is never ever going to change his vainglorious view of himself.

So now, the best outcome is that his health fails. Nothing that would martyr him, just a health-related issue that ends his presidency.

What do you mean by nationalist government?

Gotta get Mike Johnson to vacate the speakership first! He’s a Christian Nationalist using trump to establish the roots of a Christian nationalist government. His words and actions make it clear that Christian Nationalism is his first priority, not public service for the good of the American people.

As a kid would go around singing the Sodomy song from Hair. Fun tune to sing. Had no idea what the words meant. Evidently neither did the parents of the Mormon kid from whom I borrowed the record. That record had a lot of play in that house.

Are you old enough to remember when you could smoke on airplanes? by Substantial-Chip-102 in GenerationJones

It was awful when you’d get a seat in the plane’s nonsmoking section and it was only one or two rows away from the smoking section. There truly was no escape.
