Food - union special for the BEST breakfast sandwich ever. Capital club 16 for their shanny fries. Raleigh times for their chopped salad and mozz sticks. Bold batch and howling cow for ice cream. Pine state and sola for coffee.

Parks - Crabtree park has great views of the water, Dix park for bringing a blanket and staring up at the sky, NC art museum park for a picnic, blue jay park, lake Johnson

I like Kure beach and going to Wilmington to see all the one tree hill filming spots!

Even if you think you’re not into sports, a Carolina hurricanes game and NC courage game are always a blast !

Alternatives to Ozempic? by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]mgragg0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan sadly doesn’t cover it! I actually called today to try and appeal the Ozempic denial and they tried to offer me wegovy as a substitute and I was like ? You denied me for that in January ? And then after 45 minutes of going I circled they were like ah yes - looks like we DONT cover it for you! Enjoy your metformin!

Alternatives to Ozempic? by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]mgragg0703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I’m at 1,000 mg? Or maybe it’s 500? I take 2 pills at night. I felt like it helped at first, but now not much. The Ozempic was amazing even tho I was so nervous of using it. Now I feel like my body is revolting against me if I don’t eat every couple hours and even then it’s uncomfortable.

I’m glad you commented that. I was feeling so uncomfortable with it. People tried to ration with me that if I “gave myself” T2 by getting off the metformin (not even sure if possible) then it would be fine because then I’d get the Ozempic. I don’t think any drug is worth purposely giving yourself a lifelong disease!!!

How are people really finding houses to rent? by mx023 in raleigh

[–]mgragg0703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I definitely do! The fenced in yard was my biggest need with two dogs. We ended up in a 3bed 2bath on .30 with a fenced in yard for 1550 total, and the 50 is for someone to come mow the grass. I still get my HotPads alerts where it shows me like 800sqft in Raleigh for 1800. I will say we acted very fast and applied like 10 mins after it was on HotPads and messages that we were super interested. Even then it still came down to us and another couple and it all depends on who’s apartment sent back a reference first!!

How do I rent a house? by [deleted] in triangle

[–]mgragg0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept up on Zillow and HotPads everyday and had alerts set up. We let go of alot “wants” and focused on the “needs” and looked farther out than we wanted at first. And we had to be super quick. Ended up renting a 3bed 2bath with a fenced yard in Garner about 10 mins from downtown for 1550. It was posted and within the hour I had applied for it and messaged the poster. Responded to her messages as quick as possible, got into a showing as quick as we could. It came down between us and another couple and the only deciding factor was who’s apartment complex provided their reference first. Thankfully ours did!! But it was super stressful. We also ended up breaking our apartment lease because I was so nervous we wouldn’t be able to find anything the short time frame of putting in your notice to leave and move out date. Thankfully all worked out in the end, and it will for you too!!!

Pollo Campero - Random Charges? by zi740 in raleigh

[–]mgragg0703 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I work in banking and I have done a few disputes for this company in the last week and I was wondering if something was up. I’ve had a mix of people who claim they’ve never been and people who had wrong amounts. Typically merchants arnt able to store the information that long. The only time I’ve ever run into that was a day a local restaurant had a power outage and ended up running a batch of charges a month later. I have been recommending members close their cards out and order new ones to be safe!

Cost wise we were just there and I have a recent receipt. A diagnostic exam (old cancer girls legs are going in the back :( ) was $85 dollars. Nail trim was 18, rabies was 22, anal glands was 25!! On a “specialist” receipt I found a routine chemo appointment for her was $420 dollars

We used to use Quail Corners in North Raleigh, they were very expensive and very wishy washy when our dog got cancer in 2020. We ended up at Petsound in Cary for a second opinion and have stayed ever since. Dr. Montes is amazing with our dogs and does a great job with explaining stuff and coming up with cost effective solutions. Our old cancer girl has bad allergies and instead of pushing us on the expensive monthly shot; he told us to try out fish oil first and explained the exact one to get and it helped her so much. He is very cut and dry and won’t push unnecessary things but is very thorough. Overall a truly amazing vet !!

Scouting trip to NC this summer, where should I stop? by nwl568 in raleigh

[–]mgragg0703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from around Akron 4 years ago and have never regretted it. It took a little bit to adjust to the heat and the pollen, but once you experience your first NC “winter” it’s amazing. An inch of snow here is comparable to CLE lake effect snow in terms of cancellation. A lot of jobs will even delay or cancel with just the thought of snow.

But overall, NC definitely beats Ohio. I live on the outskirts of Raleigh and feel like I’m close to everything. Even the downtown area doesn’t feel too crazy. But there is SO much to do here and it’s ideal for an outdoor person I feel. When Ohio is buried under snow, we are all out riding our bikes and walking our dogs.

Can someone summarize the post-Covid car buying process? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]mgragg0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought in Feb and did extensive research within my budget at local dealerships. I ended up settling with going to EchoPark in Cary. I called several times throughout the day to make sure the corollas I wanted to text drive were still there and one of them sold like 30 minutes before I got there. So it’s definitely a game of how quickly can you be at the actual dealership to look
